Browns to release WR Josh Gordon

Josh Gordon's very strange 6 years with the Cleveland Browns have gone up in smoke... the team just decided to release him

Josh Gordon's rocky six-year experiment with the Cleveland Browns will end, as the team announced its plan to release or trade their star wide receiver.

Per Mark Kay Cabot, we now have our answer.

But a source Saturday told cleveland.com that Gordon was "a little tardy" arriving to the facility, where he he complained of a pulled hamstring. Per a report from Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Browns were anxious Gordon had a relapse in his substance abuse addiction. After that, he didn't return to the gridiron until 2017. After a superb 2013 season in which Gordon caught 87 passes for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns in 14 games, the talented pass-catcher couldn't stay on the field.

Gordon was previously ruled out for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints with a hamstring injury.

With his history of substance abuse, Cleveland simply couldn't afford to take any more chances with him.

Apple reveals the iPhone Xr, a colorful and cheaper flagship
Other photography features of these new iPhones include Smart HDR for better high dynamic range and greater image detail. The two phones both feature a new Super Retina OLED screen, but come in two different screen sizes.

According to a tweet from ESPN's Adam Schefter, Gordon hurt his hamstring at a promotional shoot, not at practice, per a source. Now, though, he'll be looking for a new home.

In the early going, it looks like a smart move for the Browns to announce Gordon's release is forthcoming.

Gordon missed most of training camp on a leave of absence to focus on his ongoing recovery with addiction.

Now it's any guess what the next step might be for him and whether another team is willing to bring him on board.

If the Browns release Gordon on Monday as stated, he'd become a free agent and wouldn't require to clear waivers.
