Google's Inbox app days are numbered

Google is Killing Inbox

I'll take a look at Google's transition guide.

Gmail is one of Google's biggest and most beloved products, but that didn't stop the company from trying something new back in 2014 with the launch of Inbox.

Many of these features slowly became redundant though, as both Gmail and Android itself started adopting Inbox's core features. "As a result, we're planning to focus exclusively on Gmail and say goodbye to Inbox". The cross-platform app was created to clean up the mess of your Gmail inbox by categorizing mail by type such as social media notifications, promotional emails, spam, and your regular correspondence.

Other photography features of these new iPhones include Smart HDR for better high dynamic range and greater image detail. The two phones both feature a new Super Retina OLED screen, but come in two different screen sizes.

Google said it wants to focus exclusively on Gmail, which has recently adopted a number of Inbox's features like smart replies and snoozing emails.

Yesterday, Google announced its decision to discontinue Inbox by Gmail, citing the fact that many of its features are now available in Gmail proper. Without splitting focus between Inbox and Gmail, it's most likely we'll see Gmail continue to evolve and be a worthy successor and alternative to Inbox. Like you can use Stars, custom labels, or use Gmail search if you used Pins in Inbox.

Google will remove Gmail Offline from the Chrome Web Store on December 3, 2018. The app which served as an experimental testbed for Gmail features as well as a streamlined email client for the service, has apparently outlived its welcome with the company. Back in 2012, Google announced it was killing off Google Reader in early 2013 as part of its "Spring Cleaning" and there were all kinds of petitions being signed and so forth, but that didn't keep Google Reader from being killed off.
