Bennet announces opposition to SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh

Supreme Court nominee steers clear of Trump criticism

After beginning with a freaky series of document releases that prompted one top Democrat to compare himself to Thracian gladiator Spartacus, the third day of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation hearings centered on Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation - and a string of emails from earlier in the nominee's career, more than a decade ago.

During a Fox News Sunday interview, Coons refused to say whether Booker would be required to meet with the Senate Ethics Committee, suggesting the document dump might have come at a price.

Friday was the final day of Senate hearings on the nominee.

Kavanaugh did answer a lot of questions in a number of key areas, including abortion, gun rights, and special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation.

Hunter Lachance of Kennebunkport gets ready to testify Friday at Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing in Washington.

Asked about it by the committee's top Democrat, Dianne Feinstein of California, Kavanaugh reiterated his previous testimony that "Roe v. Wade is an important precedent of the Supreme Court".

"Kavanaugh was very, very cautious to walk through Roe v. Wade as he saw it as a precedent of the court. So consistent with judicial independence principles, I shouldn't comment on a potential case like that", the judge said. At the hearing, I think, on Tuesday, I think we had 60 or 70 people carried out as arrests during the hearing.

In fact, some of the documents the Democrats wanted disclosed had been released hours earlier, in a pre-dawn disclosure approved by GOP attorney Bill Burck, who serves as presidential records lawyer for Bush. The nominee added that his email was merely summarizing the view of other legal scholars.

As the line, "Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing something", is read, Colin slowly turns toward the camera. Replying to an official post on the Nike Twitter account which read "Don't ask if your dreams are insane ".

"I know it's frustrating to the press, but until I finish my review I'm going to defer my decision-making", Collins said outside of Abbott Laboratories, a Scarborough company that manufactures diagnostic tests for the health care industry. In what nearly seemed like a celebration Thursday, Kavanaugh's two daughters returned to the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing room for the final hours of testimony, accompanied by teammates on Catholic school basketball teams their father has coached. Collins, a pro-abortion rights Republican, is considered to be a vital swing-vote for Kavanaugh's nomination along with Sen.

Leahy's charge stems from an infamous episode between 2001 and 2003 when a Republican counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Manuel Miranda, learned that Democrats on the panel had put documents on a computer server shared with Republicans. "We'll see where we are".

Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey asked Kavanaugh whether he would recuse himself from a case involving the special counsel Robert Mueller or the Russian Federation probe if the nation's high court takes up the matter.

Committee member Sen. Orrin G. Hatch, on his Twitter account, called the claims "outlandish" and linked to online debates that he said "debunked" each claim.

In a July 28, 2002, email, Miranda wrote Kavanaugh that Leahy's staff has distributed a confidential letter to Democratic staffers, and then described the contents of the letter.

Another email chain released by Booker later Thursday showed Kavanaugh admitting to "venting" in 2001 about reported changes to a bill providing funding both religious and non-religious drug and alcohol treatment centers.

Kavanaugh denied having conversations about the special counsel with individuals at Kasowitz Benson Torres, and the firm also denied that anyone from their office spoke to him about it.

The third day of the confirmation hearing again was repeatedly interrupted by protesters hostile to Kavanaugh. But the tough questions were largely raised by the women members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
