Apple Keynote 2018: Apple Watch Series 4 Revealed With Release Date, Price

Our clearest look yet at the Apple Watch Series 4

The Apple Watch was officially named the Series 4 during the September 12 event. First of which was its Apple Watch Series 4 line of smartwatches.

Thanks to the stretched-out display, the Watch Series 4 can now show more at a glance. Existing Watch bands will still fit even though the new watches are larger.

Apple also announced three new smartphones: the iPhone XS, with a 5.8-inch screen, starting at $999; the iPhone XS Max, with a 6.5-inch screen (the largest iPhone ever), starting at $1,099; and the iPhone XR, with a 6.1-inch screen, starting at $749.

The new Apple smartwatch now processes data up to eight times faster and will be able to detect when the user falls.

Another new feature that has been introduced to Series 4 is the ability to detect a fall.

Other than this, there are three new heart-monitoring features and if your heart rate is too slow, you will be notified. Now, Apple Watch users can take ECG of their heart anytime from their wrist and technically making it the first ECG device offered at the counter.

"Apple Watch has become an intelligent guardian for your health", said Apple CEO Tim Cook.

But, the new processor and speed doesn't come at the cost of battery life, with a claimed 18 hours of use between charges.

Other photography features of these new iPhones include Smart HDR for better high dynamic range and greater image detail. The two phones both feature a new Super Retina OLED screen, but come in two different screen sizes.

With Apple Watch Series 4, Apple seems to be changing performance, design and functionality. Apple Watch Series 4 will be available in silver, gold and space grey colours. The GPS, non-cellular 40mm versions start at $599; 44mm versions start at $649.

The Apple Watch 4 now comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes with a biggers screen, epic new heart features, better battery life with Global Positioning System tracking and other important upgrades like the ability to take an ECG, which might just save your life.

The display is 30% larger, and the watch body is thinner overall.

United Kingdom pricing for Series 4 to follow. Pre-orders of the smartwatch starts on Friday Sept 14. If the watch senses no motion for 60 seconds after the fall, it will automatically call emergency services and notify emergency contacts with its location. "The FDA worked closely with [Apple] company as they developed and tested these software products, which may help millions of users identify health concerns more quickly". The data is reliable enough to be used for medical purposes, although the feature won't be available until later this year. The design also confirms what we saw a couple of weeks ago, with a slightly redesigned rotating crown and side button, as well as a new microphone placement.

Apple Watch Series 4 will be available in aluminum and stainless-steel finishes in both GPS and GPS + Cellular configurations.

The watch runs watchOS 5, which will roll out for existing Apple Watches on September 17.

Speaking of detection the Apple Watch Series 4 can now screen your heart rhythm for irregularities to see if your suffering from atrial fibrillation (which isn't good) and can also detect low heart rates and alert wearers that the end could be nigh.
