The airline said about 10 passengers were sick and were getting medical attention 'as a precaution'.

However, an early-morning tweet from the NY mayor's office claimed that the flight had made a stop in flu-ridden Mecca on its way from Dubai.

"CDC public health officers are working with. officials to evaluate passengers including taking temperatures and making arrangements for transport to local hospitals those that need care".

An Emirates airline flight from Dubai was quarantined at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport on Wednesday morning after passengers became ill during the flight, the airline and NY news media said.

The passengers' jet was quarantined at John F. Kennedy airport in New York City.

Onboard, 12 passengers fell ill with flu-like symptoms which resulted in the incident.

The plane, which according to FlightAware.com is an Airbus A380, has been quarantined, according to the mayor's office.

Twitter Permanently Bans Alex Jones After New Violations
This came after he was previously banned by Apple, Youtube, and Facebook - which caused traffic to his content to be cut in half . The senator attempted to ignore Jones, telling him he didn't know who he was and calling him a "dumbass".

Sykes and many other passengers were held on the plane for an additional two hours after the 13-hour flight landed in the US shortly after 9 a.m. ET.

Vanilla Ice (real name Rob Van Winkle) added there could be "100 sick people" on the plane.

Upon its arrival and staging at a hard stand area, emergency medical response teams investigated the cause of the illness, which was later said thought to be caused by food poisoning.

"Some tests came back inconclusive on other viruses, which is common", de Blasio spokesman Eric Phillips said on Twitter, adding that the tests were being re-administered. Because the plane also stopped in Mecca, Phillips tweeted that the flu may be the culprit, as Mecca is now experiencing an outbreak.

Coben tweeted that passengers were eventually allowed to leave the plane.

The New York State Department of Health did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
