Trump mispronounces 'anonymous' during New York Times spray

Mike Pence Responds With Perfect Bible Verse After Author Brands Him 'Most Successful Christian Supremacist'

The official said there were a number of US officials who were part of an "quiet resistance" inside the administration who was "working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations".

"Does the so-called "Senior Administration Official" really exist, or is it just the Failing New York Times with another phony source?" he tweeted.

Trump had threatened to sue the Times when he was running for president in October 2016 because of its story about allegations of sexual assault against women.

The director of national intelligence, Dan Coats, released a statement denying that he or his top deputy wrote the piece.

A day after the op-ed was published, the highest-ranking officials in the Trump administration, including Vice President Mike Pence, took the extraordinary step of publicly denying they or their offices were behind the essay. He said they are looking into action against the Times itself.

Trump's administration has frequently seen different factions in the White House working against each other.

Trump: New York Times Must Turn Op-ed Writer ‘Over to the Government at Once!’

The unsigned piece appeared to reinforce the claims made in the new book by investigative journalist Bob Woodward, which describes a virtual cabal of high-minded White House and cabinet officials scheming to prevent Trump from taking decisions damaging to the U.S. economy and national security.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, during a trip to India, told reporters "it's not mine", and denounced the Times for publishing the anonymous article that indicates Trump may be facing the prospect of revolt within his own administration.

"Eventually the name of this sick person will come out", Trump added, although he also suggested the person, reportedly a senior administration official, may not exist.

"If it was up to me, I'd shut down government over border security", he said. If the newspaper's leadership doesn't, he says Times reporters should investigate who the leaker is themselves. "Journalistically and many different standpoints, and maybe even from the standpoint of national security, we'll find out about that", he continued.

They're saying 'senior administration official, ' that could be many people.

Press secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted the author is a "gutless loser", while First Lady Melania Trump said he or she is sabotaging the country with their cowardly actions.
