Trump fires back at Navy admiral asking for revoked security clearance

The remarks came a day after the bipartisan group of former intelligence leaders lashed out at the president for his move on Brennan, a former official in the Obama administration and sharp critic of Trump.

Former CIA Director Michael Hayden says retired Admiral William McRaven's rebuke of President Donald Trump had "an undertone of a powerful sense of embarrassment as to what was happening in the United States".

"We know John to be an enormously talented, capable, and patriotic individual who devoted his adult life to the service of this nation", said tonight's statement, signed by former Central Intelligence Agency directors William Webster, George Tenet, Porter Goss, Leon Panetta, David Petraeus, and Hayden, along with Clapper and former deputy Central Intelligence Agency directors John McLaughlin, Stephen Kappes, Mike Morell, Avirl Haines, and David Cohen.

Brennan said he believes Trump stripped his security clearance for political reasons and wants to "silence others who might dare to challenge him". And, per an analysis at the Washington Post, he also knows former British spy Christopher Steele, who compiled the infamous dossier alleging ties between Trump and Russian Federation.

Others who have earned their security clearance are also speaking out against the move.

In August 2016, just two days after Brennan briefed Senator Harry Reid and other members on Russian interference in the election, the Nevada senator wrote a letter to then-FBI director James Comey, calling the FBI to investigate Trump's campaign. I suspect I'll be taking [his security clearance] away very quickly.

Tesla forms panel to gauge taking company private
Musk had said he would consider taking Tesla private if it's shares were valued at $420. Latham and Watkins LLP has been retained by the committee as its legal counsel.

Signaling that his efforts to target clearances over his frustration with the Russian Federation investigation were not over, Trump tweeted that it was a "disgrace" for Bruce Ohr to be in the Justice Department. "For him to be in the Justice Department, and to be doing what he did, that is a disgrace. And Mr. Mueller has a lot of conflicts, also".

"But let him write his report". On Tuesday, Brennan lambasted Trump's personal character after he derided former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman as a "dog".

"This action is quite clearly a signal to other former and current officials", the letter says. "You're trusted with that information", Webb said of officials keeping their clearances.

During an appearance Thursday morning on "Fox & Friends" on the Fox News Channel, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway defended Trump's action.

McRaven called Brennan "one of the finest public servants I have ever known" and called on Trump to lift his own top secret clearance to show solidarity with Brennan. No, remember you keep those security clearances as a professional courtesy or to keep an unbroken line for the next successor administration if you can be helpful with respect to national security.

President Donald Trump spoke to members of the media, today, before boarding Marine One on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington for a short trip to Andrews Air Force Base, Md., and then on to Southampton, N.Y., for a fundraiser. "He has the authority to do that".
