North Korea Lashes Out At Administration Officials 'Going Against' President Trump

John Bolton Says North Korea Hasn't Done Much To Rid Itself Of Nuclear Weapons

South Korea said a total of 35,000 tons of North Korean coal and pig iron worth $5.8 million illegally entered its ports a year ago, in possible violations of United Nations sanctions.

"The idea that we're going to relax the sanctions just on North Korea's say-so, I think, is something that just isn't under consideration", Bolton said.

The statement cited USA officials who are "going against President Trump" and his intent to advance relations between the two nations, saying that the president has expressed "gratitude to our goodwill measures" implemented as part of the agreement.

North Korea rejected United States appeals to give up part of its nuclear arsenal and reaffirmed its friendship with Iran yesterday as the fragile detente between the two nuclear powers began to disintegrate.

South Korea says a total of 35,000 tons of North Korean coal and pig iron worth $5.8 million illegally entered its ports previous year, in possible violations of United Nations sanctions.

North Korea has described the senior officials' approach as "gangster-like" as they try to negotiate denuclearization, according to the report. But North Korean officials also indicated they are also growing tired of the U.S.'s increasing pressure for full denuclearization.

The statement seems meant to hit a target audience in the USA, being released in English by North Korea's mission to the United Nations in NY, rather than just through the state-run Korean Central News Agency, the usual avenue for government announcements.

But Trump has already given Kim some concessions, including ending joint military drills with South Korea.

Pyongyang has also stepped up its calls for a formal end to the Korean War, which some analysts believe is meant to be the first step in the North's effort to eventually see all 28,500 USA troops leave the Korean Peninsula.

North Korea has in the past expressed anger over comments made by administration officials in the media, especially Bolton.

An official end to the Korean War was a key part of the Panmunjom Declaration signed by Kim and South Korean President Moon Jae-in in their historic summit in April, ahead of Trump and Kim's meeting.

North Korea on Friday accused UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres of making "reckless remarks" and toeing the U.S. line when he called for verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.

North Korea has chafed at US insistence that no sanctions be eased until Pyongyang's disarms its nuclear weapons. The joint statement released after the event, however, was vague at best and provided no clear pathway for Kim to do so.

"We need to reveal who might have violated United Nations sanctions resolutions or whether the government was aware of (the entry of suspected ships)", he said.

However, the statement offered the US a way forward if it responds sincerely "even at this belated time".
