Iran refuses talks with United States under coercion

Iranian authorities have barely mentioned days of protests in the cities of Isfahan Shiraz Mashhad and Tehran driven by concerns over the economy as well as wider anger at the political system

The other signatories of the 2015 JCPOA - Russia and China - also opposed the America withdrawal from the landmark pact and criticized the reimposition of nuclear-related sanctions on Iran, arguing that Tehran had kept up its part of the deal.

Iran's parliament has called on Rouhani to answer questions about why more has not been done to buffer Iranians from the full force of U.S. sanctions, since his American counterpart made crystal clear his intention to pull out of the accord.

That accord - negotiated also with the U.K., France, German, Russia and China - suspended USA sanctions in return for limits and regular inspections on Iran's nuclear programs, while allowing the country to continue enriching uranium for peaceful energy purposes.

There have been sporadic protests in the capital Tehran and throughout the country that started late a year ago and have persisted ahead of the return of the sanctions. To meet the surging demand Iran's central bank had to mint hundreds of thousands of coins, reportedly totaling over 60 tons of gold.

Iran, alongside Russian Federation and Turkey, is the guarantor state of the Syrian truce. The deal had a list value of $536 million, though buyers and manufacturers typically negotiate lower prices.

"We are facing an economic war and the USA government is restoring sanctions and also trying to increase them", he said.

The secretary of state has previously used the same language when discussing Iran.

The Toulouse, France-based firm did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Asked about the possible collapse of the Iranian economy, officials wouldn't speculate, but repeated, "We've very intent on using financial sanctions to create leverage". IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano reaffirmed that Iran "is implementing its nuclear-related commitments", adding that if the 2015 deal were to fail, "it would be a great loss for nuclear verification and for multilateralism".

Hector Bellerin hails Unai Emery and digs out Arsene Wenger
Asked if he will sign a new deal, Emery said: "I don't know". The contract is one thing only for the club and the player.

The two countries are also in dispute over Iran's involvement in Middle Eastern conflicts from Yemen to Syria and tensions between Tehran and Israel. They're the world's largest state sponsor of terror.

There have been scores of plane crashes in Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution, causing at least 1,985 deaths, mainly because western sanctions for decades limited its ability to buy spare parts or new planes.

Pompeo said the United States wants "the Iranian people to have a strong voice of who their leadership will be", although he stopped short of calling for regime change in Tehran.

"We are always in favour of diplomacy and talks".

Iran's economy is tanking for a number of reasons. "I will meet, or not meet, it doesn't matter - it is up to them!"

"I do not have any precondition if the US administration is prepared today", Rouhani said on Monday.

The official says the USA will use the sanctions aggressively and cited Iran's severe economic downturn this year as evidence the sanctions would prove to be effective despite opposition from the EU, China and Russian Federation. The Iranian rial has fallen to 99,000 to the USA dollar despite a government-imposed rate of 44,000. State media report that protesters attacked and tried to burn down a seminary in the area on Friday night, and that at least one person was killed by demonstrators, according to officials.

A senior USA administration official told reporters that at 12:01 a.m. on August 7 Washington will start enforcing sanctions impacting several trade categories, including the purchase of US dollars, the sale of precious metals, transactions involving Iranian currency, the issuance of Iranian debt, and the Iranian regime's automotive sector. Those sanctions target Iran's automotive sector as well as gold and other metals. "The US owes the Iranian nation for its intervention in Iran".

Last month, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei backed Rouhani's suggestion that Iran may block Gulf oil exports if its own exports are stopped.
