Separation of migrant families a low point in White House: Ivanka Trump

Ivanka Trump said Thursday that she does not agree with her father's characterization of the media as "the enemy of the people" and that she was "vehemently against" separating children from parents at the border, calling that a low point of her White House tenure.

"Imagine being complicit in the horrifying kidnapping of children, the separation of families, and the detention of immigrants in inhumane conditions-and commenting about how hard this has been for *you*", they said.

Ivanka Trump's husband, Jared Kushner, had an ownership stake in the New York Observer and was the newspaper's publisher until 2017, when he stepped down to take a White House role.

As President Donald Trump struggled to clarify daughter Ivanka's rejection of his "enemy of the people" label for the media, one Fox News panelist said she was simply exhausted of the fighting. The Department of Homeland Security said it separated between 2,500 and 3,000 children from their parents between then and June 20, when the president signed an executive order ending the policy amid backlash.

"Ivanka feels very strongly". - "I've certainly received my fair share of reporting on me personally that I know not to be fully accurate", Ivanka said. "I just launched with the president and I'll be overseeing the National Council for the American Worker", she said.

When interviewer Mike Allen put it to her that the family separations at the border were a low point for many staff during the first 18 months of the administration, Trump admitted: "That was a low point for me as well".

The Trump administration reversed course, agreeing to allow Defense Distributed to publish the tutorials online. Gun control advocates welcomed the federal court's temporary restraining order against Defense Distribution.

"No, I do not feel like the media is the enemy of the people", said Ivanka, the eldest daughter of US President Donald Trump and an assistant to the president, at an event hosted by the news website Axios.

"But we are a country of laws", the president's daughter continued.

Ivanka Trump, 36, the daughter and advisor to President Donald Trump, 72, got brutally honest about her oppositions to his child separation policy.

"These are not easy issues".

During the discussion, Trump explained why she recently chose to close her fashion business. "I don't think anybody does".

The activities include doing "20 squats", listening to music, and meditating, she said.
