CBS CEO Les Moonves Sexual Misconduct Allegation 'Taken Seriously' Says Network

The son of actress Mia Farrow and film director Woody Allen said Friday his latest article was the product of an eight-month investigation.

In a November interview with Variety, Moonves called the recent wave of women coming forward about sexual harassment in Hollywood a "watershed moment." Two described forcible kissing or touching, and two claimed they received unwanted advances.

Moonves is accused of sexually harassing six women who had "professional dealings with him", between the 1980s and "the late aughts".

CBS also read a statement by Redstone denying the allegations have anything to do with a boardroom battle before reading a statement from Moonves admitting he's made "mistakes".

CBS said it is reviewing the allegations against Moonves, adding there have never been any misconduct claims or settlements against Moonves throughout his tenure at the network.

Chen said that Moonves is a "devoted husband and inspiring corporate leader" in a statement released hours after six women said in a New Yorker report that Moonves engaged in sexual harassment.

Other women allege either retaliatory behavior by Moonves or a lack of work at CBS when his advances were rejected, according to The New Yorker. But I can say that there are a large number of these cases across this company. But I always understood and respected-and abided by the principle-that "no" means "no, ' and I have never misused my position to harm or hinder anyone's career".

The article was written by Ronan Farrow, who wrote a Pulitzer Prize-winning story past year for the same magazine uncovering numerous allegations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. Before making the move to business, Moonves was an actor. "They never told me I was sacked".

Cohen: Trump approved 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Russians
Reporter Emily Jane Fox says that contrary to some speculation, sources close to Cohen say that his team did not leak the story. Cohen, who worked as the top lawyer at the Trump Organization for several years, often referred to himself as Trump's "fixer".

Shari has made no secret of her desire to join Viacom and CBS since taking over for her ailing father.

Moonves, 68, has fought the merger. In 1998, Moonves brought football back to the network.

Moonves has been with CBS since 1995 and has been credited with helping skyrocket CBS in the ratings with shows like Everybody Loves Raymond and Survivor.

One woman told Farrow that CBS' legal department showed a "lack of seriousness and regard" for her complaint about Fager and alleged "60 Minutes" sexual harasser Ira Rosen. And the outlet described his television tastes: "In his shows, he likes the men alpha and handsome and the women smart and lovely, and he wants little personal complexity: happy endings are imperative". His compensation reflects his value to the company: The New Yorker reports that he earned almost $70,000,000 a year ago, making him one of the highest-paid executives in the world. The book quoted a rival network executive as saying that Moonves's accomplishments over a decade were "as worthy of major applause as anything anybody has done in the past quarter century".

Moonves is now involved in a lawsuit over control of CBS with Shari Redstone.

But The Hollywood Reporter foreshadowed the Farrow report in an item of its own Friday morning. The Big Brother host did not address the controversy on Friday's episode of The Talk as it was pre-taped.

The article makes Moonves, a distinguished executive who transformed CBS into a ratings victor, one of the most powerful American men implicated in the #MeToo era that ignited past year after the career implosion of Harvey Weinstein.

The CBS board's statement noted the timing of the New Yorker article and said that the company's managers continued to have the board's support.
