Trump is deploying his post-Charlottesville playbook amid Putin press conference backlash

Мелания Трамп состроила странную мину после разговора с Путиным

Donald Trump has claimed Russian hackers are no longer meddling in U.S. affairs despite intelligence sources suggesting otherwise.

While taking questions from reporters at a Cabinet meeting, Trump said, "Thank you very much, no," after Cecilia Vega, ABC News' White House correspondent, asked whether the USA was still a target of Russian-led cyberattacks and election meddling.

Speaking about his talks with Putin, Trump said: "As successful as North Atlantic Treaty Organisation was, I think this was our most successful visit".

In an interview with Jeff Glor on CBS Evening News, Trump said he agreed with USA intelligence officials that Russian Federation meddled in the 2016 presidential election.

Blumenthal for his part says he wants to see "the whole national security team, beginning with (National Security Adviser) John Bolton", brought before Congress to provide details on the Trump-Putin meeting.

During a Cabinet meeting in the White House, reporters asked Trump if he believed Russian Federation was still trying to interfere in United States elections, after which the president said "no".

However, he did not respond when reporters asked him if he would condemn Mr Putin.

Trump defends Putin summit, promises 'big results', Latest World News

"I had a chance to speak with the President after his comments and the president was - said thank you very much and was saying no to answering questions", she told reporters Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, when asked by ABC News' Cecilia Vega if Russian Federation is still targeting the U.S., President Trump replied: "Thank you very much, no". But Putin said America had to reciprocate by allowing Russian law enforcement to question people they deemed suspicious in the U.S.

He accused people of simply hating the fact he was on friendly terms with Mr Putin at their summit in Finland on Monday, when he sensationally said he trusted Mr Putin over his own intelligence agencies.

"And I have felt very strongly that, while Russia's actions had no impact at all on the outcome of the election, let me be totally clear in saying that, and I have said this many times, I accept our intelligence community's conclusion that Russia's meddling in the 2016 election took place".

"Putin and I discussed many important subjects at our earlier meeting".

Trump also noted that he was "very strong" on Putin during a private meeting at the summit and suggested that his stance was firmer than his predecessor's. I will tell you though, it better not be. "You should have walked up and started screaming in his face.' We're living in the real world. OK?" "I have said that numerous times before, and I would say that is true, yeah". "I think the hysteria that came from the opposition party media, the full meltdown, missed the big picture".
