Thai Cave Rescuer Might Sue Elon Musk for Calling Him 'Pedo Guy'

After Elon Musk branded one of the British divers who saved 12 boys a 'pedo', the man has said he is considering legal action

British rescuer Vern Unsworth says he is considering legal action against U.S. billionaire Elon Musk after he made an unfounded and disparaging claim he was a "pedo", or pedophile, in a now-deleted tweet.

On Sunday, Musk unleashed on Unsworth, writing on Twitter that he meant to build the child-size submarine he offered to rescuers for the Thailand mission that they rejected.

No evidence has come to light to substantiate Musk's pedophilia accusation.

Musk was apparently upset that his proposal to use a miniature submarine in the rescue efforts was scrapped.

Musk, who's not shy about courting controversy on social media, draws intense attention to each post he makes.

Unsworth then said similar to the AFP. Musk's critics have long said his bitter slugfests - with rivals, partners, analysts, journalists and employees, to name a few - have hamstrung Tesla on its vaunted mission to reshape the auto industry and change the world.

In an interview with Australian broadcaster Nine Network, Unsworth said he was considering legal action against Musk for the comment.

Unsworth stated his belief that Musk's latest comments may have made some people realize that he isn't the benevolent messiah-like individual that many believe him to be: "I'm not going to make any further comment about him, but I think people realise what sort of guy he is".

Trump to talk to Russia's Putin about substantially reducing nuclear weapons
I don't think he'll have any 'Gee, I did it, I did it, you got me, ' Trump predicted of his meeting with the former KGB colonel. They had been told by the White House not to expect access to the president on Saturday.

He said he had no contact with Musk throughout the rescue operation nor since. Unsworth stated: "Yes, it's not finished". At the time, Unsworth hadn't yet read Musk's tweets but had been told about them.

First Elon Musk was a hero for providing help to the Thai football team who were trapped miles into a cave for two weeks.

"He's just a PR stunt merchant - that's all he is", Unsworth said.

There is no indication the disparaging claim musk made to his 22 million followers is true. Musk has since deleted both of the tweets.

Musk's tweets attacking the cave expert prompted condemnation from others who took part in the unsafe mission to extract the boys from the subterranean Tham Luang cave network through a narrow, water-filled passage. "I don't know the guy, never met the guy, and don't want to meet the guy", he said.

Representatives for Musk didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Shares of the electric vehicle maker were down 3.5 percent in late-morning trading at $307.82 on news that Musk could face a libel suit over the episode.
