Trump releases letter from Kim

South Korea’ Moon says North Korea-U.S. talks ‘on track,’ criticism a ploy

The letter was dated July 6, 2018, and was addressed to "H.E. Donald J. Trump", in what appears to be the latest sign that the two men were getting along after making history at the first-ever meeting between a sitting US president and North Korean supreme leader in Singapore last month. "Should the headwind begin to blow, it would cause great disappointment not only to the worldwide society aspiring after global peace and security, but also to both" the USA and North Korea. The expected North Korean officials never arrived, according to the official who requested anonymity as he was not permitted to talk publicly about the event.

"We will be ready", U.S. state department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said. "It just didn't happen". Pompeo had said when announcing the talks that the meeting could "move by one day or two".

The North Korean foreign ministry described the talks as "cancerous" and accused Pompeo of using a "gangster-like" approach while negotiating terms to denuclearise.

Moon said North Korea wanted the United States to take action to end hostile relations and build trust.

North Korea may soon allow the U.S.to resume the search for the remains of thousands of American service members killed in the Korean War.

North Korea has offered to rearrange the meeting over war remains for Sunday instead, US State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said.

The summit agreement called for the "immediate repatriation" of remains and since then Trump has a made series of conflicting claims on the status of the returns.

Awkward timing for Russian Federation probe indictments
If the President won't make Russia's attack on our election the #1 issue at the summit, then it should be canceled. The prime minister welcomed the Trumps on Thursday for a black tie dinner at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

In the letter Trump released on Thursday, Kim repeatedly referred to the U.S. president as "Your Excellency".

President Trump released a letter written by North Korea Dictator Kim Jong Un Thursday afternoon and said nuclear negotiations with the regime are going well.

The significant first meeting with Your Excellency and the joint statement that we signed together in Singapore 24 days ago was indeed the start of a meaningful journey. The letter made no mention of denuclearization.

The date of Mr Kim's letter suggests it may have been sent before Mr Pompeo's visit. Though the secretary of state described the talks as "productive" after they concluded, North Korea's Foreign Ministry later released a statement that criticized the "regrettable" USA negotiating style.

North Korea has returned the remains of some U.S. soldiers to the United States over the years since 1953, when an armistice halted the Korean War.

While in Brussels, Belgium for the annual NATO summit on Thursday, both Trump and Pompeo expressed confidence in the diplomatic process with North Korea.
