New Supreme Court Nominee Kavanaugh Has Ties To Big Florida Moments

Vice President Pence says he still wants Roe vs. Wade overturned won't say where Trump's SCOTUS pick stands

Brian Fallon believes Democrats shouldn't "reserve judgment" when it comes to opposing President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.

As senators begin the process of vetting Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, public disclosure forms show he's not almost as wealthy as numerous justices on the high court.

In 2009, Kavanaugh wrote an article for the Minnesota Law Review describing his belief that United States presidents should not be subject to certain probes and lawsuits.

Republicans have a 51-49 majority in the Senate. The official said Trump decided on Kavanaugh because of his large body of jurisprudence cited by other courts, describing him as a judge that other judges read.

NPR: Who Is Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump's Pick For The Supreme Court? "And that will happen automatically, in my opinion, because I am putting pro-life justices on the court", he said.

Abortion will be perhaps the key issue in upcoming confirmation hearings for Kavanaugh.

In 2009, Kavanaugh wrote that an indictment of a president would "cripple the federal government" and should wait until the president is out of office. "Like Trump's first nominee past year, Justice Neil Gorsuch, Kavanaugh would be a young addition who could help remake the court for decades with rulings that could restrict abortion, expand gun rights and roll back key parts of" Obamacare".

The Player: Beal is another corner with good size and length, measuring at nearly 6-1 and 178 pounds with over a 72-inch wingspan. Based on what he's put on tape, production and athletic testing, Beal could potentially go in the second round of a normal draft.

While Supreme Court nominations are the job of the Senate, House members are also weighing in.

Liberal organization Demand Justice said it will launch a $5 million campaign urging a vote against Kavanaugh, with efforts aimed at three red-state Democrats - Manchin, Indiana's Joe Donnelly and North Dakota's Heidi Heitkamp - as well as Republican Sens. Is it any wonder that President Trump chose Kavanaugh from the list of 25?

"By nominating Judge Kavanaugh, the Trump-Pence administration continues its self-serving assault on civil rights, women's rights and LGBTQ rights", said Jon Harris Maurer, public policy director of Equality Florida, a group that seeks equal rights for LGBT Floridians. He is also widely known as the "swing vote" in many Supreme Court decisions.

Kavanaugh still needs Senate confirmation to join the Court. "Rulings like that make us very nervous".

A product of the Republican legal establishment in Washington, Kavanaugh is a former law clerk for retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy.

"I wish that he could go back there and vote because I think that he would fully support him".

Baldwin also added that she believes Kavanaugh would rule against Obamacare. "All this swirl going on, should a president be allowed to appoint somebody who's already made it clear that he would give immunity to him should anything come before the Supreme Court".
