Djokovic Breaks Nishikori To Reach Wimbledon Semis

Novak Djokovic reveals what was his best match in career

Novak Djokovic reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the 10th time on Monday with a 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 win over Russia's Karen Khachanov.

A tight third set turned in Djokovic's favour as Nishikori went wide and that was enough for the fired-up three-time champion to edge back in front as he served into a 2-1 lead.

Now ranked only 21st in the world, with his career stalling since his 12th Grand Slam title at the 2016 French Open, last year's Wimbledon saw him retire in the quarter-finals with a season-ending elbow injury.

Djokovic overcame a series of rows with the chair umpire to record a 6-3 3-6 6-2 6-2 victory over Japan's former US Open finalist. However, he prevented further damage when he held from 0-40 at 2-2 in the third set, and the hold would prove significant as he responded well to break Nishikori twice in succession. I've been building in the past couple of weeks.

Asked if he is a genuine contender this year, Djokovic replied: "That's why I'm here".

However, Djokovic was unable to maintain his level and it was Nishikori who broke for 3-1 and took the second set.

With Kevin Anderson taking nearly 3-1/2 hours to tame French showman Gael Monfils in the previous match, Djokovic knew he had about two hours of daylight left if he wanted to avoid coming back on Tuesday's rest day to finish off the contest.

However, he later handed Djokovic another break with a wide backhand, allowing Djokovic to serve out and take a comfortable first set.

However, his fantastic run to the Wimbledon last four has gone a long way to quashing those fears and now he looks set to return to the top of the game.

Kavanaugh could be the needed fifth vote to overturn the 45-year precedents upholding a woman's right to an abortion . But the 42% who said that abortion should be legal in all or most cases overwhelmingly voted for Doug Jones - at 81%.

Djokovic last appeared in the semifinals at Wimbledon in 2015, when he won.

Isner will now face South African eighth seed Kevin Anderson, who earlier knocked out defending champion Roger Federer in five sets.

'I thought it was unnecessary to get the warning, ' he told the BBC after the 6-3 3-6 6-2 6-2 win.

But the second seed stayed alive by taking the fourth set before the gripping drama continued in an electrifying deciding set in which both players were left diving after volleys and slipping over as they chased after blinding winners.

Those fears dimmed when Nishikori broke Nole in the opening game of the fourth set, but again the balance tipped in the Serb's direction when he broke back in the follower.

"I think it's not fair, but it is the way it is in the midst of the emotions of a match". "I am peaking at the right moment".

"It motivates me to do extremely well here because I don't want to sit here and explain my loss".

"It gives me confidence that I was able to play good tennis on grass", Nishikori said.
