Tony Parker Is Officially Leaving the San Antonio Spurs

Gregg Popovich and Tony Parker

He's been with the Spurs for four of its five National Basketball Association championships and is a six-time All-Star.

Parker's countryman Nicolas Batum confirmed that a deal was complete.

Parker lost his starting role with the Spurs last season. We are grateful to Tony for 17 years of truly unbelievable memories.

Parker joined the franchise back in 2001 and will now be reunited with former Spurs assistant James Borrego, who was named head coach of the Hornets earlier this offseason.

Parker averaged a career-low 7.7 points, 3.5 assists and 1.7 rebounds per game last season. He was part of 137 playoff wins with Popovich, the second most by any coach and player in National Basketball Association history. Popovich and Spurs star Tim Duncan combined for 157 playoff wins.

Trump's one-on-one talks with Putin to include election meddling, ambassador says
The summit will include a one-on-one sit down followed by an expanded bilateral meeting with advisers and a working lunch.

In March, a frustrated Parker told the media that his injury was "a hundred times worse" than Leonard's.

"The biggest joy for me has been to have the pleasure of watching TP grow up before our eyes", Popovich said.

And tensions were strained further when Parker made comments to the media suggesting an injury he had sustained previously was "100 times worse" than Leonard's current plight. But there will be suitors for him, with the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Miami Heat all believed to have interest. The Nets will buy him out, which will pave the way for Howard to eventually sign with the Wizards. The person spoke to AP on condition of anonymity Friday because the deal has not been signed.

Spurs fans have known for a few years now that the 36-year-old was coming near to the end of his playing career with the team, and many thought leadership control of the team would transfer over to Kawhi Leonard. But I'm excited to play for my idol in M.J.
