Protesters across USA to march against immigration policy

Protesters, lawmaker arrested in U.S. Senate building over immigration

The massive demonstration was aimed at sending a message about the Trump administration's zero-tolerance immigration policy that separated children from their families at the border.

For the past several weeks, the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy on undocumented immigrants - including the now-rescinded policy of separating children from their parents when they are apprehended at the Mexican border - has sparked an global outcry.

Scores of organizations are supporting Saturday's mass mobilizations, spearheaded by the liberal group MoveOn.org, and contesting the administration's "zero tolerance" immigration policy that has led to the detentions of thousands crossing the U.S. border, including those planning to file claims of asylum.

Capitol Police arrested 575 people at the protest in the Senate building, and charged them with unlawfully demonstrating.

"People across my state of NY, all across the country are furious with this administration's policy to separate children from their parents", Sen.

Protesters marched from the courthouse in downtown Manhattan and made their way across the Brooklyn Bridge to join another rally in Brooklyn. Gillibrand said, adding the protests were an "amazing" act of defiance against the Trump administration.

During an earlier protest on Thursday, almost 600 people arrested in Washington including state congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, after hundreds of loudly chanting women demonstrated inside a Senate office building.

"When we were advocating to keep families together and end family separations, we were not advocating for family incarceration", said Linda Sarsour, one of the leaders of the Women's March.

OnePlus promises 2 years of software updates for its smartphones
While this gives people more reasons to buy OnePlus phones, it may also make existing owners to keep their phones for longer. The OnePlus 2, being almost three years old at this point, is obviously coming to the end of its operational life.

"I think that every American, Republican and Democrat, just has to try and imagine what that looks like, to have a six-month-old baby taken from your breast", she said.

Migrant children are not permitted to be incarcerated with their parents and are kept in separate facilities maintained by the Department of Health and Human Services.

The Trump administration's current zero-tolerance policy was first implemented in April. "Reunite families now; end family internment camps and end the zero-humanity policy that created this humanitarian crisis and chaos in the first place".

However, critics say the order did not address the issue of families already separated, with 2,342 children taken away from their parents between 5 May and 9 June alone.

Following a national and worldwide outcry over the chaotic splitting up of families that left parents in the dark about what happened to their children, President Donald Trump reversed course.

Now, she said, they do. She said she had been arrested at demonstrations three or four times since she became politically active after Trump's election.

"To finally have people on board wanting to take action, marching, taking to the streets", Rivas said.

"I have watched ICE liberate towns from the grasp of [criminal gangs]", Trump said on Twitter.
