AMC Announces Monthly Subscriptions For $19.95

AMC Theater

What just happened? AMC Theatres on Wednesday announced a new VIP tier of its AMC Stubs loyalty program that puts MoviePass and similar competitors on notice.

MoviePass is a service which allows you to pay $10 per month in order to see one movie per day at whatever theater you want (most theaters participate).

Stubs A-List, which is set to launch this Tuesday, will allow users to attend movies up to three times per week at any of the company's 650 theaters in North America. For $19.95 per month (plus tax), members can see up to three movies per week, including access to IMAX and 3D showings, multiple movies per day, and repeat visits to previously seen movies, all things that are now unavailable to MoviePass customers. But subscription services are popular among Millennials, who have proven hard for theaters to attract. The new program will cost $19.95/month for up to three movies a week along with AMC Stubs membership benefits.

Livescore: Result of Germany vs Mexico
And when Rafael Marquez came on in the 74th minute he made history too, tying a record by playing in his fifth World Cup . With both German full-backs pushing forward, Mexico were able to play long balls out from the back to spring an attack.

MoviePass has made headlines in the previous year for disrupting the movie theater experience at a time of uneven attendance at movie theaters. Although, there was a brief period when MoviePass took away the movie-a-day package that made them famous before quickly resuming the service.

The service has bumped heads with traditional theaters, including AMC, which at one point even pulled its program from certain locations.

Theaters' war on MoviePass seemed to have reached a tenuous truce. A-List also allows moviegoers to book tickets in advance, a feature that is not available with MoviePass. CNNMoney reported in May that MoviePass' parent company, Helios and Matheson Analytics, burns through approximately $21.7 million each month to keep MoviePass in operation. "Thanks for making us look good AMC!" the company wrote. MoviePass says it has more than 3 million paid subscribers and projects a user base of 5 million subscribers by 2019.
