Pulev fumes at Whyte, Hearn after fight falls through

Dillian Whyte in training

A highly significant and intriguing heavyweight contest was announced on Thursday, when it was confirmed that Dillian Whyte (23-1, 17 KOs) will clash with former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (24-1, 18 KOs) at London's 02 Arena on July 28.

Pulev and Whyte were ordered in April by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) to fight to decide the challenger for the IBF world heavyweight title held by Anthony Joshua.

The Whyte fight, with a mandatory challenging position against Joshua going to the victor, certainly fits that bill.

Earlier this week, Hearn told Sky Sports: "Although he wants to become the mandatory, he's also the ideal guy to create a big fight for Anthony Joshua in the United Kingdom, and the more impressive performances Dillian Whyte puts together, the more he's knocking on that door".

"I'm looking forward to getting back to training and burning off the pies I ate in New Zealand".

"I'm very excited, it's a massive fight", Whyte told ESPN.

'Nobody is left' - Guatemala volcano ravaged entire families
That eruption unleashed a rapid flow of gas and volcanic debris which quickly enveloped homes nearby, killing those inside. Thousands of people are staying in shelters, which includes the Church's Escuintla Guatemala Stake Center.

"Two guys that will fight anyone agreed a fight within hours and now we have the prospect of a brilliant Heavyweight match up that will play a major part in shaping the division. Obviously we came close against Anthony Joshua (but) didn't quite get the win", he said.

"One would hope that this fight leads to a world title shot".

"We've both been in with AJ".

Love him or loath him, there's no denying that Eddie Hearn keeps on pulling out fight after fight. It'll be an incredible fight. One of us ended the fight on our feet, the other didn't. "That pretty much speaks for itself", said Parker - the only fighter to so far take Joshua the full distance.

Whyte, no doubt, will be looking to better Joshua's performance by dispatching with his Kiwi opponent in double-quick time and, in doing so, really staking a claim that "hey, look at me now". I'm sure he believes different, I'm sure they have seen something in me that they think they can beat. "I know it took a lot of hard work from my team to get this over the line".

There had been heavy speculation that Whyte was going to fight Luiz Ortiz in a title eliminator, before the late change to Parker.
