Real Madrid's stance on Cristiano Ronaldo sale hangs on one major detail

Cristiano Ronaldo Real Madrid Manchester United

Ronaldo, 33, threw his future into doubt by talking about his time as a Madrid player in the past tense following last month's Champions League final.

The game, which will be released after the new season has started, will display Cristiano Ronaldo wearing Real Madrid's new kit.

'It was very nice to be in Madrid, ' he said.

According to Record, Ronaldo has made the "irreversible" decision to call time on his nine-year stint at Madrid and the Portuguese forward will now look for a new club with England, France and Italy named as potential destinations.

Now, Portuguese publication Record claims he's been angered by the treatment from the club and in particular President Florentino Perez over his current contract, "unfulfilled promises" and lack of recognition of his recent exploits.

"In the next few days I will give an answer to the fans".

According to another report, Ronaldo became more unhappy after his agent Jorge Mendes met with the club on Wednesday.

There's been a lot said since on both sides, with speculation around how serious Ronaldo really is, how seriously Real are actually taking it, and above all, how this could end.

Should Ronaldo find himself a club willing to buy him, Real would accept as long as it allowed them enough money to purchase Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain.

Ronaldo spent six years in Manchester between 2003 and 2009 before going Real, winning a raft of trophies including 3 league titles, 2 League Cups, The FA Cup and the Champions League in 2008.

The left-back also talked about whether Neymar can be Ronaldo's successor.

The Portugal global still has three years remaining on his contract with Madrid.
