SpaceX's Falcon 9 Launches SES-12 Satellite Aboard Pre-Flown Rocket

A large commercial satellite on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket flew for the second time following a blast on Monday at Cape Canaveral.

The satellite will be deployed roughly 32 minutes after liftoff.

SES announced today that SES-12 was successfully launched onboard a flight-proven SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from.

SpaceX was hoping to conduct additional tests of the Falcon Heavy rocket with the help of NASA.

SpaceX will not send tourists around the Moon this year as previously announced, and will delay the project until the middle of next year, USA media reported on Monday, June 4. As earlier said by the forecasters, the weather was probably favorable and a seventy percent chance for conditions favoring the launch was affirmed.

Martin Halliwell, chief technology officer for SES, said at a pre-launch press conference last week: 'The first stage is a Block 4, and the upper stage is a Block 5'.

Fortunately, the lad was all right, smiling as he left the court. "But that's tennis. Why not? Just because you said it so nicely, I'm going to believe that now'.

The firm has reflown the landed boosters for 12 times and Falcon-3 stages for 13 times.

Instead, the satellite will rely on electric propulsion, using pulses of xenon gas to slowly circularize its orbit around the equator over a period of months. "It's basically two satellites in one".

SpaceX has landed these boosters 25 times, and reflown them on a dozen occasions. "We're actually going to an apogee around about 58,000 kilometers".

"This is an incredibly flexible satellite that we're putting into our fleet", said John-Paul Hemingway, CEO of SES Networks.

SES-12 eventually will be positioned at 95 degrees east longitude, co-located with the SES-8 relay station - the first SES satellite launched by SpaceX. This satellite will provide video, data, and other communications services across the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East.

"If you take all those numbers together, this is really exciting for us", he said.
