Pentagon Blocks China From Joining Naval Exercise

US Excludes China From Military Drill Over South China Sea Actions

It has been reported that the Pentagon on Wednesday disinvited China from a major US -hosted naval drill in response to what it sees as China's militarization of islands in the South China Sea.

According to the Pentagon, China's "continued militarization of disputed features in the South China Sea only serve to raise tensions and destabilize the region".

Held every two years in Hawaii, the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercises involved more than 20 countries including India, Japan, the United Kingdom and - for the past two events - China.

Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Christopher Logan said that the Defense Department reversed its earlier invitation for China to participate in Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC), a biennial naval exercise that includes more than two dozen nations, the Washington Post reported.

Depriving China of its access to RIMPAC doesn't dangerously degrade U.S.

The Navy announced a year ago that China's PLA navy was invited to RIMPAC 2018.

Private sector data analysis reviewed by Reuters shows Subi, some 1,200 km (750 miles) from China's coast, is now home to almost 400 individual buildings - far more than other Chinese islands.

Japanese Defence Minister Itsunori Onodera has voiced deep concern about reports that Chinese bombers had landed for the first time at an airport on the East Sea.

China has intensified its military activity in the South China Sea, performing more frequent and larger-scale drills.

American Legion to host Memorial Day ceremony
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and traverse Grand Ave. with veterans, service groups, horses and lots of patriotism. At 11:30 a.m., there will be an open house for all veterans and their families at the new Veterans Center at 311 N.

The Pentagon explained that China's increased military presence on disputed islands was the reason behind their decision.

If the USA military increases its activities in the South China Sea, then our side will need to further strengthen its military deployments there. "China's response will be to adjust its information warfare, but China's strategy will remain on course, unperturbed by USA actions thus far", he said.

Earlier this month China deployed anti-ship cruise missiles and surface-to-air missiles on the disputed Spratly Islands off the Philippine coast, CNBC reported, citing sources close to U.S. intelligence.

He added the Obama administration had allowed China to participate in the 2016 RIMPAC exercises after a promise from Chinese President Xi Jinping that the artificial islands in the South China Sea would not be militarized.

"China is only building civilian and some necessary defense facilities on our own islands", he said.

The trial deployment of nuclear-capable H-6K bombers to Woody Island has important strategic significance for China.

Chinese dredging vessels are purportedly seen in the waters around Fiery Cross Reef in the disputed Spratly Islands in the South China Sea in this still image from video taken by a P-8A Poseidon surveillance aircraft provided by the United States Navy May 21, 2015.

"We were determined to persuade them to leave and chase them away from the area", Chiem said. "China's landing of bomber aircraft at Woody Island has also raised tensions", Logan said. -China military-to-military contacts, which are both broad and deep without the PLAN's participation in the multilateral exercise.

Since then, China has significantly bolstered its military presence in the disputed South China Sea, despite a ruling by an worldwide arbitration tribunal in the summer of 2016 discrediting Beijing's extensive claims to the region.
