'Exhausted' Simpson savours first win in five years

Bale Tiger Woods is the greatest of all-time

Tiger was as close as three but had a bad final three holes he would finish 8 shots back.

He closed with a 1-over 73 for his biggest title since the 2012 U.S. Open at Olympic Club. He finished with a tap-in for double-bogey 6 on 18 after his pumped-up approach shot flew the flag and the green and found the water.

Tiger Woods believes that he is ready to challenge for major honours again following a highly promising weekend at the Players Championship.

In the final round of THE PLAYERS Championship 2018, Webb Simpson sinks a 32-foot birdie putt on the par-4 7th hole.

For the second day running, the former world No. 1 plundered the first 12 holes at TPC Sawgrass, this time picking up six birdies. But a back-nine 35 showed that he's not.

His only big mistake didn't even matter.

Although Simpson's accuracy and ball striking were impressive throughout the week, it was his prowess on the greens that played the key role in his victory. "But I've to do some work between now and then".

It certainly looked that way during much of the weekend at the Players Championship, a tournament featuring the top 50 in the world with the exception of the injured Paul Casey.

The day's sub-plot was whether Dustin Johnson could hold on to the world number one spot in the face of a closing round of 66 from world number two, Justin Thomas.

"It means a lot, but it's something I want to have for a long time, " Thomas said.

A strong supporter of then-Prime Minister Tony Blair, Dame Tessa was reported to have said she would "jump under a bus" for him. Julie Nicholson told Maajid Nawaz that Dame Tessa was Tony Blair's "greatest gift to the 7/7 community".

Charl Schwartzel of South Africa, Jimmy Walker and Xander Schauffele tied for second at 14 under par, with Jason Day of Australia and Jason Dufner knotted in fifth another stroke in arrears. He also entered the Regions Tradition, a major on the PGA Tour Champions.

Woods, who rocketed up the leaderboard with a seven-under 65 on Saturday, recorded a 69 on the final day. He shot 15-under through 36 holes; three players were tied for second.

He followed that up with a 69 on Sunday to end at -11 and tied-11th for the tournament. "It's weird; not to really mishit a shot today and only shoot 3-under par is just weird, because I played much better than that", Woods said. It's nice to finally shoot a low one. When Simpson recorded another bogey, at the 10th, eyes flicked towards Woods.

Brooks Koepka became the eighth player with a 63 on Sunday, which featured an albatross 2 on the par-5 16th.

Simpson had fallen on hard times when the anchoring ban forced him to switch his putting technique, but he caught fire with the short stick this week while flirting with Greg Norman's Players Championship scoring record of 24 under.

It was at T.P.C. Sawgrass on the eve of the tournament a year ago that Simpson had a chance meeting with Tim Clark, the injured P.G.A. Tour pro who'd won the 2010 Players.

"But to be honest with you guys, I've never putted this well in my life, and I think if I had stayed with the belly putter, I think I maybe averaged 35th to 60th every year in putting, so very average".

"There's been some tough moments along the way", said Simpson, whose father died in November.

Simpson said it has been hard on her, along with his siblings.

When Simpson switched to a conventional putter, he was stubborn about the way he used it, uninterested in other ways to grip it, other lengths.
