E. coli outbreak spreads to another state

One death from California has been reported. Most times, product labels do not identify where the lettuce was grown.

This is the largest such outbreak in the U.S.in a dozen years.

"Some people are being hospitalized because they just become dehydrated". The ages of those who were sickened ranges from 1 to 88, and 65 percent were female. Two out of three have been women.

This all stems from romaine lettuce grown in or near Yuma, Arizona. Werner emphasizes people rid their fridges of romaine lettuce as soon as they are able, and be wary of mixed salads or other foods that might contain romaine lettuce as an ingredient. To date, 29 states have the reported food poisoning of 149 people with 64 hospitalizations. "This percentage is significantly higher than results from a survey of healthy people, in which 46% reported eating romaine lettuce in the week before they were interviewed". However, the CDC's warning not to eat romaine unless it's known not to be from Yuma remains in effect. The Food and Drug Administration then traces the many channels the lettuce took from the field to point of sale, she said.

Health officials have tied the E. coli outbreak to romaine lettuce grown in Yuma, Arizona, which provides most of the romaine sold in the USA during the winter. They include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting.

The bacteria can spread through ruminants, animals like cattle, sheep, goats, buffalo, elk, and deer; water; the environment and people, Dr. Robert Tauxe, director of CDC's Division of Foodborne, Waterborne, and Environmental Diseases, said previously.

He recanted that position, but given his complaint on Twitter Monday morning that Ms. Women are too tough for Democrats.

"If you do not know whether lettuce is romaine, do not eat it", the statement said.

At least 132 sick from 27 states.

Since Romaine only has a 21-day shelf life, experts say this outbreak should be nearing its end.

CDC, public health and regulatory officials in several states, and the FDA are investigating a multistate outbreak of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli O157:H7 (E. coli O157:H7) infections.

The national E. coli outbreak associated with romaine lettuce has reached Minnesota, as the Minnesota Department of Health has reported multiple cases of illnesses in the state.
