Brilliant Bellew: Haye victory was for my tragic brother

Tony Bellew

London hosted a rematch, that saw the former world champion on Boxing in heavy weight under version WBC Tony Bellew and former champion mill in two weight categories David hay.

"David Haye is an incredible fighter", Bellew said of his opponent, who was the WBA heavyweight champion in 2009 having previously been world champion at cruiserweight.

Bellew's promoter Eddie Hearn said that his fighter had spoken to Fury about a fight after Haye pulled out of the original rematch in November citing a bicep injury from a conditioning session.

Haye was forced to pull out of fights against Manuel Charr and Tyson Fury due to injury and underwent shoulder reconstruction surgery in November 2013 that had prompted his first retirement. "Father Time is undefeated and Haye is not the man to beat him", Bellew told Sky Sports.

David Haye, right, takes a jab from Wladimir Klitschko during their heavyweight fight in Hamburg, Germany, in July 2011. I left it for him and I know he was there. I am a walking Super Series. "I was hurt in that fight. I need that mega star".

Bellew said Haye being prepared to fight up close played to his own strengths and that his rival was "bringing a knife to a gun fight" by doing so.

Peers warned against 'thwarting' will of the people after Brexit defeats
Peers have tabled a slew of wrecking amendments to the crucial EU Withdrawal Bill created to force her hand in negotiations. SNP MP Stephen Gethins MP said the defeat was the "most damaging" the government had suffered.

"I didn't feel great in there tonight and I lost to the better man".

And after the defeat, Bellew told reporters via the Metro that he told Haye to retire. It came in the first round but fizzled out by the third. The third round seemed to be anyone's round until Bellew scored a crucial knockdown with about 15 seconds remaining in the round.

In the third round, Bellew twice sent Haye to the canvas thanks to a pair of powerful right-hand punches. Bellew lands another flurry of punches that sees his right hand finding the mark on Haye's jaw. Luckily for Haye, the bell saved him as his senses looked scrambled.

Even with a respite before the fourth, Haye was understandably wobbly, but he managed to steady himself as his opponent took full control, with the ankle issue also appearing to take some toll.

Bellew knocked Haye down three times before referee Howard Foster put an end to the one-sided beating with Haye struggling to survive on the ropes.
