Yaya Toure leaves Man City as the Premier League's forgotten legend

Arsene Wenger had a friendly encounter with Sir Alex Ferguson on Sunday

Pep Guardiola has finally brought down the curtain on Yaya Touré's Manchester City career and guaranteed the midfielder a memorable farewell in front of his home crowd next week.

Yaya Toure will be out of contract at the end of season and won't be offered a fresh contract by Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola confirmed in a press conference ahead of his side's match against Huddersfield Town this weekend that Toure will play his final match at the Etihad against Brighton next week.

The Ivorian will make his 10th appearance of the Premier League campaign if he turns out at home to Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday in what could be his final outing in sky blue.

City has already been crowned Premier League champions will host Brighton on 9 May before travelling to Southampton for the final game of the season. "Yaya Toure came here when this idea for the club started, and what we are in this moment is thanks to what this guy has done", said Guardiola. "He was a key player".

At least one killed after building burns down in Sao Paulo
There have been unconfirmed reports that there were people on the top floors when the building collapsed. Firefighters believe clearing the rubble, which was still smouldering hours afterward, could take days.

Toure needed to keep Seluk on a shorter leash and we will never know how much the acts of the outspoken Ukranian influenced Guardiola's decision to shunt his star client into the shadows.

During his spell in Manchester, Toure has won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups and one Community Shield.

And according to Paul Hirst of The Times, Yaya has made his preference for next season clear and that is to stay in England with another Premier League club. We are going to try and win the game for him.

"Believe me, I'd like to be in the final of the Champions League, a lot", said Guardiola.

"In cup games, anything can happen".
