Grassley: McConnell doesn't control my committee

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, an Iowa Republican, put the bill on his committee's agenda for a markup Thursday, which under the panel's rules means it will it will come before the committee next week.

The committee will consider the legislation next week.

"I think having Congress tell him what we believe he should do in this case is simply poking the bear, and I'd just prefer not to do that", Rounds said.

"While I'm glad the majority leader believes the President would be wrong to fire Special Counsel Mueller, it's a mistake not to pass legislation to protect the investigation", he said in a statement.

McConnell said on Tuesday that he did not believe legislative action was necessary because Trump would not fire Mueller, who is overseeing the FBI investigation into possible collusion between Trump associates and Russian Federation. I don't think the president's going to do that.

U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell had told Fox News on Tuesday that he would not allow a vote on the measure in the full Senate.

Four Leaf Clover: Boston Celtics continue to dominate the Bucks
Antetokounmpo and Middleton have combined for 121 points in the first two games: the rest of the team has combined for 92. A Jayson Tatum drive and Monroe inside basket put the Celtics up 98-80 into a timeout with 8:47 left in the fourth.

Within a day of Trump's criticism, Republicans Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Lindsey Graham of SC combined two bills they introduced last summer to protect special counsels.

Should it pass, Mueller would receive an "expedited judicial review" within 10 days of being fired to determine if it was for a "good cause". "The president keeps slamming Mueller, and I think that politically just doesn't play well, even with folks I know who are part of the president's base". The Senate will fast-track a bill to remove hemp from the list of controlled substances. The new bill is a merger of two bipartisan bills introduced last August, and its sponsors hope the current version is clear of the constitutional questions legal experts raised about the original legislation at a hearing a year ago.

Grassley acknowledged McConnell's comments on Wednesday, saying that the majority leader has a "terrible job" but adding that he "can't worry about what's going on on the floor".

All four senators serve on the judiciary committee.

McConnell informed Cavuto that he would be shocked if the exceptional adviser, who is exploring contacts between authorities along with the campaign of Trump was dismissed by Trump.

Feinstein said that some proposed changes appeared to be acceptable, but she still had concerns about requiring law enforcement officials to report prosecutorial decisions during an ongoing investigation.
