Britain Calls For Security Meeting On Nerve Attack Findings

Russian ambassador to the UK Alexander Vladimirovich Yakovenko

The world's chemical arms watchdog on Thursday confirmed Britain's findings on the identity of a nerve agent used against a former Russian spy, which London has said involved the Soviet-made Novichok.

Ex-colonel of Russia's GRU, Chief Intelligence Department, Sergey Skripal and his daughter Yulia, poisoned in the center of Salisbury town in the evening of March 4, are still struggling for life in the intensive care unit of the local hospital.

UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, however, claimed the findings meant that there was "no doubt" of Russia's responsibility for the incident.

British officials, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the case, said that the high purity of the chemical points toward its creation in a sophisticated laboratory. Russian Federation strongly denies it was involved and insists it has destroyed all of its chemical weapons. Russian Federation vehemently denies any involvement, and it contains responded by expelling exactly the very same number of diplomats.

The OPCW also "notes that the toxic chemical was of high purity".

The deadliness of the agent depended on the dose and how it was inhaled.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which collected its own samples in Salisbury at Britain's request, did not assign blame for the attack, in which Russian Federation has denied involvement, or name the chemical agent.

Britain has said the use of such an obscure poison indicates Moscow was either to blame or had lost control over its nerve agents.

Sky News, however, referred to the poison as "Novichok", even though the OPCW report does not call the substance so. London promptly accused Moscow of orchestrating the attack with what United Kingdom experts claim was the A234 nerve agent.

"Until that time, I want to stress that no one speaks for me, or for my father, but ourselves", she said.

Despite initial doubts that they would not survive, Yulia Skripal was released from hospital to an undisclosed location on Monday.

The statement was released after Yulia's cousin Viktoria gave a series of interviews about a telephone conversation between the two, leading the British government to claim that Russian Federation was using Viktoria Skripal as a "pawn" in the dispute between the two sides.

She declined the Russian embassy's offer to help.

"As before, we would like to make sure that the statement really belongs to Yulia".

She had been released from the hospital this week, while Sergei Skripal stays hospitalized.

Yulia Skripal's statementthat was distributed by London's Metropolitan Police, is essential because the Russian Embassy at London has criticized the British government rather than letting diplomatic workers to see the Skripals since they were contested. "The document only strengthens suspicions that we are dealing with a forcible isolation of the Russian citizen".
