Florida Gov. Rick Scott Has Finally Announced He's Running For Senate

Rick Scott: Nobody has asked for the Florida National Guard to patrol Mexican border.

Scott, a two-term Republican governor, never mentioned Nelson, a three-term Democratic senator, by name.

He announced his campaign on Facebook Monday morning, but later at a news conference in Orlando, Scott called on politicians in D.C. demanding for change.

In scripted remarks made available ahead of his announcement in Orlando, Scott called Washington "horribly dysfunctional". There's a lot of exhausted thinking up there.

Scott is viewed as the only opponent with the ability to seriously challenge Nelson, with his willingness to spend tens of millions of dollars on his campaigns, which isn't out of the ordinary considering that Florida is known for its television advertising.

Nelson, a Democrat, was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2000 after having served in the state Legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives.

Democrats swiftly laid out their argument against Scott. "I know he's asked me to get into the race".

The contest for the Florida Senate seat could decide which party controls the Senate.

The gun issue is expected to play a key role in Scott's race.

Brock Lesnar And Vince McMahon Reportedly Got Heated After WrestleMania
He's "Vince's boy" and doesn't connect on an emotional level the way someone like Daniel Bryan does. UFC president Dana White as recently as Wednesday confirmed Lesnar would be returning to the UFC .

Sen. Bill Nelson readily noted the silence.

For Scott, it will be his third election in his political career.

Scott's record on gun laws earned him an A+ rating from the National Rifle Association before the killings of 17 people at a Florida high school this year.

"While it's hard to envision any competitive, top ticket race in this state being won by 7 percent, or 500,000 votes, as this sample now shows the race, it is understandable why the governor has this lead on Nelson with such high job approval, image ratings and positive direction of the state under his watch", said Ryan Tyson, AIF's vice president of political operations. If Claire McCaskill goes on statewide anti-Trump rants in Missouri, for instance, I'd be shocked ... and she'll get retired.

"I'm going to announce I'm running for senator", the Republican governor said in an interview published by American publication Politico on Monday.

As the person Scott is challenging in the election has been a member of the Senate since the closing days of the Clinton Administration, a campaign centered around changing the Beltway is likely to catch the attention of many voters otherwise jaded by politics.

According to his website, Gov. Scott says he is focused on creating jobs and turning Florida's economy around and cares about faith, family and community. More than 200,000 Puerto Ricans have come to Florida since the hurricane.

The governor has also made national headlines for leading Florida during Hurricane Irma late a year ago and the recent deadly mass shooting in Parkland, Fla., which has elevated the debate over gun policy. Scott can put his own money into the campaign, but those close to him say he will rely most heavily on funding from donors.
