LeBron breaks Jordan's double-digit points streak record

LeBron matches Jordan as Cavaliers down the Hornets

Once he scores 10 points against New Orleans, probably at some point in the first half Friday night, James will surpass Jordan's record and add another check mark to his side in the greatest-player-of-all-time debate.

It was a milestone night for Charlotte's Kemba Walker as well.

The home crowd gave James a raucous standing ovation as he saluted the fans and handed the game ball to a staff member to take to the locker room.

"It's not like I set out to say that I want to be the No. 1 in scoring 10 points, double digits or consecutive games or whatever that and whatnot", James told Yahoo Sports.

James' numbers back up his claim, as he is now leading the league in minutes and among the top three in both points and assists despite a continually changing roster surrounding him.

Jordan's streak lasted from March 25, 1986 through December 26, 2001, while playing for the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards.

James matched Jordan's 17-year-old mark in the second quarter when he scored his 10th point on a powerful alley-oop dunk off a pass from J.R. Smith.

Judge denies Stormy Daniels' request to have Trump and Cohen testify
Cohen has said Daniels made defamatory statements about him in an interview broadcast on Sunday on CBS News' 60 Minutes . Trump's name in it, with the word "rape, ' and I'm going to mess your life up", Cohen told Mak".

James has twice kept his streak alive with exactly 10 points, once in October 2007 and once this past January.

"I think records are always meant to be broken", he said. "The body of work, how I'm doing it, what's been happening with our team all year long, how we've got so many injuries & things of that nature, guys in & out, to be able to still keep this thing afloat, I definitely would vote me".

Interim head coach Larry Drew, who's seen plenty of both players in his career as a player and coach, believes James is headed for even more records.

"Any time I'm in the same group as the greats of this game, that's very humbling knowing where I come from", James told ESPN's Adam Schefter after the game.

"My love for the game... it's my motivation", James said.

However, James already had passed Jordan as the league's all-time leading playoff scorer last spring.

James scored eight points in the space of two minutes down the stretch in the fourth quarter to put the Cavaliers in the driving seat.
