NY Giants trade Jason Pierre-Paul to Buccaneers in blockbuster trade

NY and Tampa Bay reportedly will swap fourth-round picks, while the Giants also will acquire a third-round pick. His solid 2016 campaign (35 tackles and seven sacks) led to a four-year, $62.5 million contract, but he had an inconsistent 2017 campaign. The trade further emphasizes something that already had begun to crystallize: It is a new era of player leadership in the Giants' locker room.

The trade also means the Giants could draft North Carolina State's Bradley Chubb, widely considered this year's best defensive end prospect, with the No. 2 overall pick. Eli Manning is in the twilight of his career, but we've seen the Giants put really good teams around him before and then he goes and wins a Super Bowl.

A two-time Pro Bowler and first-team all-pro in 2011, Pierre-Paul had his right index finger amputated after a fireworks accident on July 4, 2015.

The Bucs had 22 sacks last season and they have been shoring up their line.

The Giants are also in the process of moving to a 3-4 defense.

Toys R Us liquidation sale likely to start Friday, spokesperson says
Customers with Toys "R" Us gift cards and Endless Earnings e-gift cards will need to hurry if they want to use those cards. That should be enough to win bankruptcy court approval to buy 400 stores and the Toys "R" Us brand, Larian said.

Pierre-Paul will join a revamped defensive line in Tampa Bay, which includes defensive end Vinny Curry, who signed a three-year deal last week, and tackle Beau Allen, both formerly of the Eagles.

The 34-year-old Gore was born in Miami and played for the University of Miami. Pierre-Paul sued Schefter and ESPN for publishing an image of his medical records in July 2015 after his infamous fireworks accident, a case that was allowed to proceed by a judge until JPP and Schefter settled the lawsuit out of court in February 2017.

Pierre-Paul is tied with Mathias Kiwanuka for fourth in forced fumbles in franchise history with 13 behind Umenyiora (32), Strahan (24), and Tuck (18).

The Giants now hold the No. 66 and No. 69 picks in the third round of the upcoming draft. In exchange, the Giants will get a the Buc's third and fourth round selections. In that scheme, Jason Pierre-Paul wasn't necessarily a great fit, so the team elected to part ways with him.

In Pierre-Paul, the Bucs are hoping to have landed a premier pass-rusher, since they ranked last in the National Football League last season with 22 sacks. He also won a Super Bowl with the Giants in 2012.
