On Monday, it was reported that there was a warrant out for Smith's arrest following an alleged domestic violence incident.

The Raiders on Monday released Smith, whose brushes with the law have been frequent and well-documented, derailing a promising career.

Smith, 28, surrendered to investigators with the Police Department's special victims unit without incident, according to Officer Giselle Linnanne.

The troubled linebacker has been arrested several times on charges including drunken driving, vandalism and illegal possession of assault rifles since the San Francisco 49ers selected him in the first round of the 2011 National Football League draft.

The victim in the incident - believed to be Smith's fiancé - suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

I wish the best for Aldon. Then yesterday, Smith's fiuancee told TMZ that Smith entered a rehab facility, after reaching out to her parents for help.
