Japan: police finds missing woman's detached head

Yevgeniy Vasilievich Bayraktar

A woman's torso and "a pair of soil-covered arms" were found in Shimamoto while legs were found in Yamashina. Police have reportedly described the body parts as having no apparent injuries apart from where they were severed.

Police have formally arrested the 26-year-old and he has confessed to "abandoning the woman's body", according to national broadcaster NHK.

The woman posted on social media that she was planning to meet with a man called "Jay" shortly before she went missing.

Bayraktar is seen leaving and re-entering the apartment with a large bag multiple times throughout the day in the camera footage.

Both the NY man and the woman were spotted together on security footage at the JR Morinomiya Station in Osaka around midnight on Friday, Feb. 16, just hours before she went missing.

A man believed to be Bayraktar and a woman were seen on surveillance footage going into the Osaka apartment building together.

Taliban kill 18 soldiers in attack on Afghan army base
ISIL, which is trying to make inroads in Afghanistan, claimed responsibility in a message on their Amaq news agency. Taliban insurgents attacked the checkpoint in Farah province, Defence Ministry spokesperson Dawlat Waziri said.

Not other body parts were found in the residence.

Bayraktar, according to Kyodo News, allegedly told police he disposed of the woman's body, and on Monday, authorities reportedly found arms, legs and a torso - not yet determined to be the missing woman's - in different locations in Kyoto and Osaka.

Bayraktar is believed to have rented several residences, including the one in Nishinari, on a short-term basis.

The woman went missing after she left her workplace in Sanda on February 15.

Bayraktar was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 22, after police received a tip that the American tourist was confining a woman inside his vacation rental at Osaka's Higashinari Ward.

Before the discovery of the head, the suspect was being questioned on accusations he may have locked the woman in an apartment - again, accusations he denies. He is thought to have taken several other women into the same Higashinari apartment, although police have confirmed they are safe, according to the Mainichi newspaper.
