Man Drives Car Into Middlesex Hospital, Catches on Fire

A man is in critical condition after crashing his far into Middlesex Hospital and then setting himself on fire in Middletown Conn

Steven Ellam, 27, is alleged to have rammed his auto right into Middlesex Hospital on Thursday morning, just before 10 a.m., with the suspect setting himself on fire as soon as he stepped out of the vehicle.

Mayor Drew says they believe there is no threat to the community, and they believe it is an isolated incident. Police at the time said he attempted to strangle a woman in June 2013 with plastic bags after telling her she had sinned, had to repent and was going to die.

"All our patients are safe".

Mayor Drew said the act was intentional, but did not offer any speculation into what Ellam's motives might be.
