Apple overhauls software development approach to fix iOS bugs

Internally codenamed "Peace", iOS 12 will focus on fine tuning and polishing the user experience and numerous features initially planned for this release will get postponed to iOS 13 slated to debut in 2019. It may also integrate Animojis into FaceTime, letting people put virtual faces over themselves during video calls.

The company has decided to make a major change to its development program, rather than having its engineers work on a relentless annual release schedule crammed with new features, according to a report Monday from Bloomberg. The leak had the potential for the discovery of new bugs, loopholes or security vulnerabilities that could pose a significant risk to iPhone users. Also, in September, Apple is expected to be releasing a brand new iOS model. Instead of meeting a tight deadline and ticking all the boxes on the checklist, development teams will be able to push back some features if they're not polished enough. Apple hopes this approach will lead to a more refined, bug-free experience for their customers and a less taxing environment for engineers.

Apple will reportedly port animoji over to the iPad, and improve the So Not Diatub functionality of the iPhone. "The renewed focus on quality is created to make sure the company can fulfill promises made each summer at the annual developers conference and that new features work reliably and as advertised", according to the report.

Apple is slowing the pace on iOS updates, with the Cupertino firm allegedly opting to get absolutely right a smaller number of changes in its flagship iPhone software.

United States mother abandons newborn after giving birth in airport bathroom
Authorities described the mystery woman as being aged in her mid-20s and said she was wearing black leggings and a coat. The baby was left on a changing table in one of the airport's changing rooms with a note reading, " Please help me ".

An update to the Stocks app, which provides details about stocks and other financial information, is also expected to find its way into iOS 12. Indeed, the feature - which allows users to store their conversations and message attachments in the cloud rather than on their devices, saving storage space in the process - is only expected to arrive later this year as a part of iOS 11.3. Typically Apple goes all out for its annual software upgrades and crams as many new features and upgrades into its mobile operating system as possible, and then tweaks things throughout the year with incremental updates.

According to Bloomberg, this fall there would be no tweak in the home screen, neither would it have any major new features.

In terms of the iPad, tabs - which have typically only been used in desktop browsers like Windows 10 and macOS - are coming as well, allowing several windows to run inside a single app, as well as he ability to run apps simultaneously, side-by-side.
