HTC's president of smartphones Chialin Chang has resigned

HTC mobile chief resigns before the unveiling of company's last flagship HTC U12

The move, spotted earlier by Engadget, was announced today and is effective immediately. Chang joined HTC as its Chief Financial Officer in 2012 before becoming the smartphone and connected devices president back in 2016. HTC for $1.1 billion gave its team to Google. Chialin Chang is departing the company to pursue a 'personal career plan, ' and HTC has yet to appoint a replacement.

Following his resignation from HTC, Chang told the press that he is planning to set up his own artificial intelligence company after the Lunar New Year holiday, having come to recognize the importance of AI in industrial development. However, after Google acquired HTC's smartphone design and engineering teams, his position was somewhat redundant. The bottom line is, Chang is out and HTC, at least for now, is not replacing him. While Chan was rather evasive regarding his career plans once he leaves HTC, some reports indicate that the executive aims to launch an AI start-up sometime this year.

The HTC president for the phone and connected devices business Chialin Chang has resigned. And from the scenarios, it seems like the HTC U12 could be the last of its name, and the company might look forward to mid-range devices onwards.

Israel fighter jet crash ratchets up regional tensions
Open conflict across the Syrian border is unlikely to be in the interest of either Israel or Iran-aligned forces at the moment. Its Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi called them the claims "ridiculous", according to Reuters .

As for the smartphone market of HTC, it has not completely ended its business.

Last year's HTC U11 was a great device that we're excited to see a follow-up on, but details on when the HTC U12 will arrive are essentially unknown at this point.
