Duke men's basketball slotted as No. 2 seed in East in selection committee preview

On Sunday afternoon, the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee released the Top 16 seeds as it stands right now, a month away from Selection Sunday.

So while Virginia Tech's away win vs. Virginia was an RPI top-50 win a year ago, it is now a Quadrant 1 win. Had we won, yeah we would have been No. 1. Despite Michigan State's two top-five wins, it has only a 3-2 record in its "Quadrant 1" games, against top-30 teams at home, top-50 teams at neutral sites and top-75 teams on the road. Cincinnati, 3. Tennessee, 4.

Villanova was selected as the second No. 1 seed (East Region). Duke, 3. Texas Tech, 4. Auburn was placed in the Midwest region (Omaha, Neb.) with Xavier. Auburn, 3. Clemson, 4.
