United States mother abandons newborn after giving birth in airport bathroom

Tuscon Airport Authority believes the woman gave birth around 9pm in an airport bathroom

The woman abandoned the newborn in a bathroom at the airport on Sunday, Jan. 14. The newborn is under the care of the Arizona Department of Child Services.

An airport custodian says she asked the woman if she was OK after finding blood on the floor of a restroom. Despite a torn umbilical cord, he was mostly healthy.

A baby believed born in a Tucson International Airport restroom was left behind with a note that said, "I'm sorry".

The baby was left on a changing table in one of the airport's changing rooms with a note reading, "Please help me".

Authorities have now released the heartbreaking note the baby's mother left on top of him when she left the airport.

Authorities described the mystery woman as being aged in her mid-20s and said she was wearing black leggings and a coat.

Senate, House Pass Spending Bill With Health Program Funding After Brief Shutdown
Republican Senator Mitch McConnell announced the plan following extensive negotiations with Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer . Really who is to blame? The House passed a short-term spending bill Tuesday night aimed at keeping the government open.

Airport security immediately started searching the airport's surveillance video as soon as they got a 911 call regarding an abandoned newborn baby.

Quintana said she found bloody clothes in the trash can with paper towels on top in an apparent effort to hide them.

The child was in good condition, authorities said. She can't and unfit to deal with me. Criminal charges have yet to be determined, the Arizona Daily Star reported, and the woman remains unidentified.

In 1999, Texas became the first state to pass a safe-haven law following reports of 13 abandoned babies in the Houston area in the first 10 months of the year, which prompted public outcry and legislative action, according to a Nevada state government review of the legal framework.

TAAPD has exhausted all its own resources and those of the local law enforcement community as well and is not actively looking for the woman, a spokeswoman for airport police told InsideEdition.com. "There is a lot of fear".
