Pyeongchang Games organisers probe possible cyberattack

Seoul's presidential office says Moon during the luncheon proposed a toast calling for peace and "mutual prosperity" for the two Koreas.

The North Korean issue is especially emotional in South Korea because the peninsula, which had been one country for thousands of years, was arbitrarily cut in half at the end of World War II, in what was supposed to be a temporary division.

Head coach Sarah Murray put three North Koreans in Saturday's lineup: Jong Su-hyon, Kim Un-hyang and Hwang Chung-gum.

Some of the expansion, however, was just so NBC could show more US athletes.

Pakistani athletes were welcomed at the opening ceremony of 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korean capital Pyeongchang.

Inside the small barracks-like practice arena, one question was being asked by more than a dozen journalists: Where are the North Koreans?

According to South Korea's Yonghap News Agency, internet-based telecasts were disrupted, and some people who bought tickets online for the opening ceremony said they couldn't print their tickets.

When North and South Korean athletes walked out together during the Pyeonchang Winter Olympics opening ceremony Friday, most people present cheered it as a sign of possible peace during a tumultuous time.

It was the US that appeared to be the one left in the cold, especially after the sister of the North Korean dictator extended an invitation from her brother for Moon to visit the North.

Four months ago, Vice President Mike Pence created an expensive manufactured outrage when he attended an NFL game but then left before it began because players from both teams knelt during the national anthem.

Pence is viewing the short-track competition, in which eight Americans are participating.

Mohamed Salah Responds To Real Madrid Transfer Rumours
Mohamed Salah has revealed that he misses his former teammate and friend, Philippe Coutinho , after he switched to Barcelona . Liverpool legend, Robbie Fowler has described Mohamed Salah as "phenomenal" following his impressive showings for the club.

Pence said Friday the USA would oppose talks between the two Koreas until the North agreed to open negotiations on ending its nuclear program. It isn't clear if the White House would support such a meeting. Also on the squad is goalkeeper Genny Kim Knowles - a 17-year-old who is a native of Vancouver but who plays hockey for her high school in Lawrenceville, N.J.

Earlier in the day, Moon was invited by the PRK delegation for talks in Pyongyang, paving the way for the first meeting of Korean leaders in more than a decade.

Updates with verbal invitation in second paragraph and President Moon comments in third paragraph.

Moon, in a statement, said athletes from North and South will "work together for victory".

"Chairman Kim Jong Un's envoy Kim Yo-jong delivered a letter expressing a willingness to improve relations", the presidential spokesman said.

Even if there are more meetings between the rivals after the games, to discuss the nuclear standoff, to discuss ways their militaries could ease friction, accomplishing something is another matter.

The Trump administration, and successive American administrations before it, has insisted that North Korea must give up its nuclear weapons program if it wants to be treated as part of the global community.

The officials toasted with the Korean liquor "soju" and were served buckwheat and potato pancakes, dried pollock soup, grilled halibut and other dishes.

This item corrects that Kim Yo Jong is the leader's sister.

Believed to be in her late 20s, Kim Yo Jong shares the same mother as the North Korean leader and is seen as controlling access to him.

Saturday's meeting, the most significant diplomatic encounter between the two sides in more than a generation, could now be surpassed should Moon accept Kim's invitation to visit Pyongyang later this year, CNN reported.
