Paul Ryan slammed over tweet praising tax cut for $1.50 pay rise

Paul Ryan's tweet bragging about a woman making an extra $1.50 a week because of the tax bill

Social media users are blasting Speaker of the House Paul Ryan on Twitter after he boasted about the GOP tax bill by sharing a story of a Pennsylvania teacher seeing a pay increase of a little over a dollar a week.

Just when you think Paul Ryan couldn't get any more delusional, he goes and does exactly just that. In fact, most Americans depend on their paychecks to get them through the immediate days and can not access adequate social services - something that is available in other equally developed countries.

"A secretary at a public high school in Lancaster, PA, said she was pleasantly surprised her pat went up $1.50 a week...she said (that) will more than cover her Costco membership for the year", was what Ryan had written.

Ketchum will see her pay increase by $78 a year, which she said she will put toward her membership at warehouse club Costco, according to the Associated Press. The top 1 percent, on the other hand, would still get a tax cut of $20,660.

Ryan's tweet had linked an Associated Press story on Americans reaping the benefits of the tax cut.

Then, Pink will make her debut Super Bowl appearance when she takes America's biggest stage to sing "The Star Spangled Banner". I think I can hopefully offer him some advice on what to do and what not to do. but right now we're working on our manners.

Ryan's spokeswoman didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on his tweet. The woman Paul Ryan bragged about helping will only save $78 per year over the next eight years - so she will save $624 in total.

The tweet was attached to a link to Bryce's campaign where people can donate $1.50 towards his faceoff against Ryan this November.

Ryan's words also highlight the fact that tax bill is disproportionately beneficial to rich people - and that will further widen the income disparity.

California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom tweeted with a screen shot of Ryan's tweet: "Guess someone told Paul Ryan you shouldn't go around praising yourself for giving a working person an extra $1.50 a week - because he deleted this tweet".

But the tweet was quickly mocked and the Wisconsin Republican deleted it within hours.
