Nintendo's success attributed to Switch, Super Mario Odyssey

Nintendo-Mario-Kart-1

After being delayed in 2017, Nintendo has announced that the online subscription service for the Nintendo Switch will be launched this September.

Revenue was also boosted by the sale of more than 47 million games for the console, as well as consistent sales for its 3DS handheld console. Some of these games would include Dr. Mario, Super Mario Bros.

These figures are courtesy of the Japanese giant's latest financial report for the year ending 31st December 2017.

What we're getting at here is that Nintendo is doing quite well.

Today, during Nintendo's corporate strategy meeting, CEO Tatsumi Kimishima gave a few updates about the performance of the Switch and the manufacturer's plans for the console and the rest of its lineup.

'Cold war mentality': China blasts United States nuclear review calling Beijing a threat
Late past year it denounced Washington's updated defence strategy and urged the U.S. to abandon "outdated notions". The document also says China continues to increase the number, capabilities and protection of its nuclear forces.

The Switch follows the relative failure of the Wii U, which sold only 13 million consoles between its 2012 launch and 2016-almost 90 million less than its predecessor, the Wii.

Brainseed Factory's charming and rather imaginative puzzle-platformer Typoman is making its way onto Nintendo Switch in the form of its later-released Revised edition. The first game to arrive with this support is Splatoon 2. However, Nintendo has stated that they may change the titles they initially offer and expand the collection.

As shown, from February onward we will be releasing a wide variety of new software titles one after the next.

Xbox and PlayStation established their paid online services years ago. The company recently announced that the hybrid console has surpassed the Nintendo Wii's lifetime hardware sales less than a year since its release. "This game helps to maximize the number of people who have access to Nintendo [intellectual properties] by providing a Mario game that a wide variety of users around the world can enjoy", Kimishima said. Nintendo also said these games will have added online functionality, but what that means exactly remains unclear.
