LeBron James Responds To Warriors Free Agency Rumors

LeBron James calls report linking him to Warriors 'nonsense'

Following a report that James would be open to meeting with Golden State when he becomes a free agent this offseason, Durant was extremely candid with his thoughts. Not that, I'm angry at the Golden State story or I'm angry about what the Lakers and Philly and Houston and San Antonio and Sacramento and Orlando and Miami and Toronto - I could name all 30 teams.

However, it's highly unlikely that this potential match will ever come to fruition.

In order to facilitate the deal, the Warriors might have to do a sign-and-trade deal in which James signs with Cleveland and is simultaneously dealt to Golden State in exchange for a package of players whose combined salaries are near James's.

Why this information was leaked to an ESPN reporter might be a more interesting story than the news itself, as Bill Simmons explored Thursday. James told reporters (via USA Today) of when he heard ESPN's report Friday (AEDT) that topped virtually every US sports website.

Nassar victims help lead each other out of shadows
He could also face criminal contempt of court charges carrying a penalty of up to one year in jail and up to $1,000 fine. Then, he said, he looked over and saw Nassar sitting at the defense table "shaking his head "no" like it didn't happen".

James reaffirmed he is focused on getting the Cavaliers back to the NBA Finals. It was nearly exactly two years ago that Adrian Wojnarowski reported for The Vertical that the Warriors were a serious threat to sign Durant, and the star forward announced his decision to join Golden State five months later, shortly after the Warriors defeated the Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. They are just 1.5 games ahead of the Miami Heat who have been an afterthought by most National Basketball Association teams this season sitting at 29-19 for the season. He had little to say about the notion of James playing for the team that beat the Cavaliers in the 2015 and 2017 Finals, but he made it clear it isn't something he wants to contemplate. And especially when the Warriors would then become the favorites to add literally every single veteran free agent willing to take league minimum just for a chance to win.

The move, according to ESPN, would require the Warriors to shed salaries of players such as Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala - both crucial parts of the Warriors' success.

To acquire James, Durant would have to take less money than the $25 million that he's earning this season.

That said, James' apparent decision to let the world know about opening talks with the Warriors may mean something else.
