Wynn Resorts probes sexual misconduct claims against boss

A Republican senator urged party candidates to return monetary contributions from embattled casino mogul Steve Wynn on Sunday, while a second GOP senator encouraged Republican officials to be open to refunding the cash.

A Wall Street Journal report Thursday included interviews with dozens of people who have worked at Wynn's casinos or had been informed of his alleged misconduct, including accusations that he pressured some employees to perform sexual acts.

"The allegations made against Mr. Wynn in the Wall Street Journal's report on Friday are extremely serious", said Jon Thompson, the Republican Governors Association communications director.

Though Wynn responded to the allegations saying, "The idea that I ever assaulted any woman is preposterous", he resigned as finance chair of the Republican National Committee on Saturday, according to Politico.

"However, given the uncertainties relating to the recent events, we expect the historical Wynn premium multiple to be removed and expect the stock to trade at an in-line market multiple until such time as there is resolution to the recent events", the report said. "I thank the President for the opportunity to serve and wish him continued success". The newspaper purportedly explained that the Las Vegas-based billionaire later paid the worker a settlement worth approximately $7.5 million.

In early October, McDaniel tweeted that if the Democratic National Committee "truly stands up for women like they say they do, then returning Weinstein's dirty money should be a no-brainer". Dean Heller of Nevada, whose re-election campaign received nearly $19,000 from Wynn and his wife a year ago. "We find ourselves in a world where people can make allegations regardless of the truth".

Governor Charlie Baker called the charges and allegations against Steve Wynn "distressing and appalling".

The Daily Mirror report the defender has said his goodbyes and a £57 million deal could be completed within the next 24 hours.

The board of Wynn Resorts has formed a special committee to investigate the allegations.

Trump called Wynn a "great friend" after he won the Nevada caucus in February 2016, and Wynn was named finance chairman of the committee after Trump became president.

"The instigation of these accusations is the continued work of my ex-wife Elaine Wynn, with whom I am involved in a bad and nasty lawsuit in which she is seeking a revised divorce settlement", Wynn claimed.

The RNC has not yet said whether it will return any money donated by Wynn. The Republican National Committee convenes this week in Washington for its annual winter meeting.

Meanwhile, Senator Steve Daines received a $10,400 donation ($2,600 in both the primary and general election) from the Wynn's in his 2014 senate race.

While social media was active with Wynn Reosrts customers vowing they won't return to Wynn properties in light of allegations of sexual impropriety by Chairman and CEO Steve Wynn, the company says there have been no more reservation cancellations than normal.
