Raul Johnson Gonzalez missing: Federal Bureau of Investigation joins search for boy who vanished barefoot

Canine units led investigators to a pond near the boy's home, which the landowners agreed to let the Federal Bureau of Investigation drain, WFMY News reports. "We greatly appreciate the landowner's cooperation".

Raul Gonzalez Johnson was reported missing from his home in Laurinburg Wednesday morning.

The Amber Alert issued for Raul said the boy was last seen on Village Drive, walking toward Crestline Road in Laurinburg.

Kersey said he wanted to drain the pond after a search by a dive team came up empty Thursday. Authorities are still unsure whether the boy was abducted or if he wandered away. "I want to thank our partners and the community for the tremendous outpouring of support", Kersey said. More than a dozen ground search teams combed the area Friday, and authorities are working to drain a pond near the area where Raul was last seen.

Law enforcement officers have blocked local roads to check IDs. The neighbor spoke with the child and told him to go home.

Kersey said that the search teams were transitioning from search and rescue to a more "investigative approach", according to News Observer.

Mattis: Diplomacy ought to impose cause on North Korea's Kim Jong Un
The North has shown rapid progress toward its goal of developing a nuclear weapon that could reach the USA mainland. The Pentagon rejected that idea, although it didn't give a new start date for the exercises.

Raul Johnson's grandfather says he was cooking in the kitchen when he lost track of his grandson.

"Until we get something that indicates that there's no hope. we'll continue to do what we're doing now", Kersey said. The FBI and SBI have joined the effort in an attempt to locate the missing boy.

Kersey said that no evidence has been found that could lead them "any closer" to finding the missing boy but they are not about to give up.

Raul is described as Indian, approximately 3 feet tall, weighing 38 pounds.

Johnson was wearing a white and orange tiger-striped shirt with tiger graphics printed on it and a pair of white trousers with rocket ships printed on them, authorities said.

Anyone with information on Johnson is asked to call 911 or 910-276-3385.
