Vince McMahon announces return of the XFL

Chicago Tough Our picks for a potential XFL team

Interest in the league was reignited when ESPN aired the "This Was the XFL" documentary that chronicled the spectacular football failure. Now it's back for another try, but will it succeed the second time around?

"I've always wanted to bring it back", the 72-year-old McMahon said on Thursday.

This needs to be a success because we have to have something that forces the National Football League to get better.

"McMahon, who will continue as chairman and CEO of WWE, offered few other details about the football comeback". No cities or TV partners were named.

When the XFL first launched in 2001, the league aired on NBC, as Vince teamed up with Dick Ebersol, then-President of NBC Sports, for the project.

But the league is already garnering a hostile reaction from journalists, many of whom are eager to protect the NFL and its practice of coddling anti-police protests by players and providing generous donations to far-left foundations.

MSU's Lou Anna Simon resigns over Nassar scandal
He later walked that back, Skubick said, to say they needed to be evaluated on how they handle decisions after Simon's leaving. Simon and her administration had successfully tamped down indignation over MSU's role in the Larry Nassar sex-abuse scandal.

"The new XFL is an exciting opportunity to reimagine America's favorite sport", McMahon said in the release. The postseason will feature two semifinal playoff games before the championship.

Featuring scantily clad cheerleaders and baffling rule changes such as a scramble between players rather than a coin toss, the league attempted too much, and in too extreme a manner. He wants a 2-hour game and even tossed out the idea of eliminating halftime. Aiming for a shorter, fast-paced game, those in charge will hope to capitalise on the NFL's falling television ratings.

"It's still football. But it's professional football reimagined".

The most famous handle belonged to McCallum's Las Vegas Outlaws teammate Rod Smart, who had "He Hate Me" etched on his uniform.

XFL players will be required to stand for the National Anthem. "And nothing to do with social issues, either".

"We played in the first game and I made a field goal, so that was pretty cool". "There were really good football players".
