SnapChat partners with its biggest rival Facebook

The redesigned app will be rolled out to users alongside the Story sharing update

Instagram has been taking cues from Snapchat on features to implement into their own app, recently they have implemented another feature which they, yet again, took from Snapchat.

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel explained what's coming in a video made late past year; expect to see some fairly big changes pretty soon.

Snapchat is brilliant for sharing quick views and photos with pals for a brief period of time, and part of the appeal of the app is the fact that only other snapchat users and friends can see what you are posting. The Android and iOS versions of the Snapchat app in these regions have already been updated to new versions with a drastic redesign that was teased last November.

Snapchat, famous for its image messaging and multimedia platform, has launched another feather to its application, allowing users to share some public "stories" through links.

Let's just hope the latest update can change the perspective of users per the redesigned app-Snapchat can't afford to slip further behind Instagram and Facebook.

To share a Story, you'll press and hold on tiles in Discover.

For a company that enjoys keeping its user generated content within its app's walls, it's a big step for Snap.

As with the app, Official Stories will only be viewable for 24 hours, while other stories will be available for 30 days.

According to WABetaInfo, users will see a special icon next to a person's name if they take a screenshot or recording of your story. The company also added that it is not ruling out monetization of the stories. The company, which reported lower-than-expected 178 million daily active users in the third quarter ended September 30, has been trying to attract new users and rolling out features, aiming to increase the time users spend on the app. If finding your favourite Snapchat filter is the worst thing that happens to you today, it has been a good day.
