No. 4 Svitolina into Aussie Open quarterfinals

Seppi carefully plotted a way through the first set eventually winning a tie-break 7-4

If there is a chance to stretch a match to five sets, Seppi will jump at it.

As for the matches themselves, did Kyrgios cross the line with his ranting in the direction of his player box? Edmund broke back and when he broke again to close out the second set, he took charge of the match. Regarding Dimitrov, is he finally ready to fully deliver on his enormous talent?

Trailing by a set and a break to the veteran Italian, the 23-year-old made up his mind to attack and it paid handsome dividends as he recovered to win 6-7 (4), 7-5, 6-2, 6-3 and set up a quarterfinal against either Nick Kyrgios or Grigor Dimitrov. The pod team were hugely impressed.

The unseeded Edmund, ranked 49, dropped the opening set, but finished strongly to win 6-7 (4/7), 7-5, 6-2, 6-3 and will face Nick Kyrgios or world No.3 Grigor Dimitrov in the last eight.

The Yorkshireman changed his coaching team at the end of a year ago and the role is now split between Briton Mark Hilton and Swede Fredrik Rosengren, with the latter on duty in Melbourne.

Edmund said: "It's a good feeling". That's why I'm in the quarter-finals, because every time I step on the court, I believe I'm going to win.

"I guess maybe more messages on social media and stuff or whatever ... there's obviously a bit more attention the more matches you win", he said.

Both players in this match knew that this a good opportunity, although Seppi was on an eight-match winning streak and has had his best Grand Slam results at this venue, several on this Hisense Arena court specifically.

Donald Trump and Theresa May to meet in Switzerland
The White House welcomed the meeting adding that Mr Trump "looks forward" to strengthening the countries' "special relationship". The meeting comes after Trump cancelled plans to travel to the United Kingdom for the opening of a new U.S. embassy.

As Kyle Edmund tucked into a hearty meal in the Melbourne Park players' restaurant about an hour after another hard-fought victory at the Australian Open, his energetic and talkative coach, Fredrik "Fidde" Rosengren, sat about 15 metres away extolling the virtues of his charge.

"I just played Kyle two weeks ago", Dimitrov said.

But Edmund dialled up his mighty forehand and hit straight back, and when he broke again to level the match, the momentum swung decisively in his favour.

Top-seeded Rafael Nadal overcame a pesky Diego Schwartzman to beat the Argentinian 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-3 and advance to the Australian Open quarterfinals. "I played well. He played well".

He will play third-seeded Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov next and sees no reason why he can not make further progress. "I am very happy". "Hopefully I can do even better in the next match".

Seppi barely made a mistake in the first set with his running forehand particularly strong, and the fear of playing to that flank caused Edmund to take the wrong option at 4-4 in the tiebreak.

But slowly Britain's No.2 felt his way into the match and when Seppi played a poor service game at the start of the second set, the tide was starting to turn.
