Police Officers Shot in Harrisburg

Christopher David Hill, 45, an 11-year veteran of the Marshal's Service, died while serving the warrant for Shayla Lynette Towels Pierce, who was wanted by the Harrisburg Police for terroristic threat offenses.

"Obviously, it takes you right back to the warrant service where we lost Deputy Kyle Pagerly, who was part of a marshal task force serving a warrant as well", said Sheriff Eric Weaknecht, whose deputies are all cross-sworn as members of the U.S. Marshals Service task force.

Investigators identified him as Kevin Sturgis, 31, of Philadelphia. They did not say what the relationship was between her and Sturgis.

Hill was transported immediately to UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg hospital, where he died. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Sources in the federal court state that the federal marshals had arrived to serve a warrant to a woman when a male inside the house opened fired on the officers. "He's one of our best", said U.S. Marshal Martin Pane. "He was the cream of the crop".

".A Harrisburg police officer, who was wounded, bravely returned fire and critically injured the gunman", Papenfuse said.

'No words can adequately express the sadness we feel at this moment as we contemplate the loss of yet another law enforcement officer in the line of duty, ' Papenfuse said in a statement which was reported by WHTM-TV.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions weighed in on the death of Hill in a statement shortly after the news was released. "Every day, Deputy U.S. Marshals make the people of this country safer by catching fugitives on the run, protecting our courthouses, our judges, and witnesses at trial", Sessions said. Another official also said Pierce goes by the last name Towles. Law enforcement officers shot and killed Ahmed Aminamin El-Mofty, who they said fired at police in several locations in Harrisburg three days before Christmas. That man is believed to have acted alone.
