Vivo Demos First Smartphone With In-Display Fingerprint Sensor

What makes Vivo under-display technology different from others

And, in confirmation of rumors, the company Vivo announced the world's first smartphone with a fingerprint scanner in the display.

Synaptics told us it needs a couple more years of development to reduce the cost and size for such technology to become a viable option for our smartphones and other mobile devices.

Looking a little further into the future, we could see multiple optical image sensors built into displays - or even entire displays featuring the technology, which would mean you could place your finger anywhere on the screen and have your fingerprint read.

Though Apple is all but certain to adopt an under-the-glass Touch ID solution on its high-end iPhone 8, a report which surfaced roughly two weeks ago insisted that Cupertino's crown jewel wouldn't be the first smartphone to ship with a display-embedded fingerprint scanner. Leading with distinct innovative breakthroughs, the in-display fingerprint scanning smartphone offers its consumers an unprecedented mobile experience, defining a new era of mobile interaction.

However, maybe you prefer fingerprint sensor over even a state-of-the-art face unlocking like Face ID, and you definitely want it in the front because you need to unlock the phone a billion times a day while it's laying on the desk, and you still want a huge display that takes up almost all the room from the front face of the phone.

According to The Washington Post , Trump has made about 2,000 false or misleading statements since taking office. According to Holan, "Wolff said then-Speaker of the House John Boehner resigned in 2011; it was actually 2015".

The Chinese firm had announced past year that they had developed the "in-display fingerprint scanning" technology for a prototype phone in China.

You'll only know the sensor is there because the phone displays a fingerprint icon on-screen, prompting you to present your digit. The sensor, that was reviewed and used at CES was on Vivo, a Chinese phone maker's brand, and was tested out by CNet.

Synaptics has said that the sensor takes just 0.7 seconds to recognize and authenticate the fingerprint.

This technology will only work for phones that use OLED displays because the sensor looks through the spaces between subpixels from under the panel. This gives us a good idea of what we can expect from the new fingerprint solution. Once the fingerprint is registered, unlocking the phone works just fine, like any other physical fingerprint sensors. But sadly none of the big smartphone manufacturers were able to implement this feature in their flagship phones.
